Matthew: Chapter 03

3:1 IN those dayes Iohn the Baptyst came and preached in the wildernes of Iury/ sayinge: In those dayes came Iohn the Baptist, preachyng in the wyldernesse of Iewry, IN those dayes Iohn the Baptyst came and preached in the wildernes of Iury/ sayinge: AND in those daies, Iohn the Baptiste came and preached in the wildernes of Iewrie,
3:2 Repēt/ the kyngdome of heauē is at honde. and sayeng: Repent of the life that is past, for the kingdome of heauen is at hand. Repēt/ the kyngdome of heauē is at honde. Saying, Repent, for the kyngcdome of heauen is at hand.
3:3 This is he of whō it is spoken by the Prophet Esay/ which sayeth: The voyce of a cryer in wyldernes/ prepare the Lordes waye/ and make his pathes strayght. For this is he, of whom the Prophete Esaye spake, which sayeth: The voyce of a cryer in the wyldernes, prepare ye the waye of the Lorde: & make hys pathes streyght. This is he of whō it is spoken by the Prophet Esay/ which sayeth: The voyce of a cryer in wyldernes/ prepare the Lordes waye/ and make his pathes strayght. For this is he of whome it hath bene spoken by the Prophet Esaie, who saieth, The voyce of him that crieth in wildernes is, Prepare the way of the Lord, make his pathes strayght.
3:4 This Iohn had his garmēt of camels here and a gerdell of a skynne aboute his loynes. His meate was locustes & wilde hony. Thys Iohn had hys rayment of camels heer. 3:5 Then went oute to him Ierusalem and all Iury/ and all the region rounde aboute Iordan/ Then went out to hym Ierusalem and all Iewrye, and all the regyon rounde about Iordan, Then went oute to him Ierusalem and all Iury/ and all the region rounde aboute Iordan/ Then went out to him Ierusalem & all lewrie, & all the region round about Iordan.

3:7 When he sawe many of the Pharises & of the Saduces come to his baptyme/ he sayde vnto them: O generaciō of vipers/ who hath taught you to fle frō the vengeaūce to come? When he sawe many of the Pharises & of the Sadduces come to his baptisme, he sayd \T»to them, O generations of vipers, who hath taught you before to flee from the vengeance to come?
3:8 Bringe forth therfore the frutes belonginge to repentaunce. Bring forth therfore the frutes that belong to repentaunce. Bringe forth therfore the frutes belonginge to repentaunce. Bring forth therfore the fruites belongyng to amendement of life.
3:9 And se that ye ons thinke not to saye in your selues/ we haue Abraham to oure father. For I saye vnto you/ that God is able of these stones to rayse vp chyldrē vnto Abraham. And be not of soch mynde that ye wolde saye wtin your selues: we haue Abraham to oure father. For I saye vnto you: that God is able to bryng to passe, that of these stones ther shall ryse vp children vnto Abraham. And se that ye ons thinke not to saye in your selues/ we haue Abraham to oure father. For I saye vnto you/ that God is able of these stones to rayse vp chyldrē vnto Abraham. And presume not to say with your selues, we haue Abraham to our father: For I say vnto you, that God is able euen of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham.
3:10 Even now is the axe put vnto the rote of the trees: so that euery tree which bringeth not forth good frute/ is hewē doune and cast into the fyre. 3:11 I baptyse you in water in token of repentaunce: but he that cometh after me/ is myghtier then I/ whose shoes I am not worthy to beare. He shall baptise you with the holy goost and with fyre: I baptyse you in water vnto repentaunce: but he that shall come after me is myghtyer then I, whose shoes I am not worthy to beare. He shall baptise you with the holy ghost and with fyre: I baptyse you in water in token of repentaunce: but he that cometh after me/ is myghtier then I/ whose shoes I am not worthy to beare. He shall baptise you with the holy goost and with fyre: In deed I baptize you with water to .amendement of life: but he that commeth after me, is myghtier then I, whose shoes I am not worthy to beare: He shall baptize you wyth the holy Gost and wyth fyre,
3:12 which hath also his fan in his hond/ and will pourge his floure/ and gadre the wheet into his garner/ and will burne the chaffe with vnquencheable fyre. whose fan is in hys hand, & he wyll purge hys floore, & gather his wheat into the barne, but wyll burne the chaffe wt vnquencheable fyre. which hath also his fan in his hond/ and will pourge his floure/ and gadre the wheet into his garner/ and will burne the chaffe with vnquencheable fyre. 3:13 Then cam Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn/ to be baptised of him. Then commeth Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn to be baptysed of hym. Then cam Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn/ to be baptised of him. Then came Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn, to be baptized of him.
3:14 But Iohn forbade him/ sayinge: I ought to be baptised of the: and commest thou to me? But Iohn forbade hym, sayinge: I haue nede to be baptised of the: and commest thou to me? But Iohn forbade him/ sayinge: I ought to be baptised of the: and commest thou to me? But Iohn put him backe, saying, I haue neede to be baptized of thee, and commest thou to me?
3:15 Iesus answered & sayde to him: Let it be so now. For thus it becōmeth vs to fulfill all rightewesnes. Then he suffred him. Iesus answered & said vnto him: Let it be so now. For thus it becometh vs to fulfyll all ryghteousnesse. Then he suffred hym. Iesus answered & sayde to him: Let it be so now. For thus it becōmeth vs to fulfill all rightewesnes. Then he suffred him. Iesus answering, saied to him, Let it be so nowe: For thus it becometh vs to fulfil all rightuousnes. Then he suffred him.
3:16 And Iesus assone as he was baptised/ came strayght out of the water. And lo heauen was opē ouer him: & Iohn sawe the spirite of God descende lyke a doue/ & lyght vpon him. And Iesus when he was baptised, came straight waye out of the water. And lo heuen was open vnto him: and he sawe the sprete of God descendynge lyke a doue, and lyghtyng vpon hym. And Iesus assone as he was baptised/ came strayght out of the water. And lo heauen was opē ouer him: & Iohn sawe the spirite of God descende lyke a doue/ & lyght vpon him. And Iesus as sone as he was baptized, came straight out of the water: and lo, the heanens were open vnto him: and Iohn saw the Sprite of God descending like a done, and lighting vpon him.
3:17 And loo there came a voyce from heauen sayinge: This is that my beloued sonne in whom is my delyte. And loo, there came a voyce from heauen saienge. Thys is my beloued sonne, in whom I am well pleased. And loo there came a voyce from heauen sayinge: This is that my beloued sonne in whom is my delyte. And lo, there came a voice from heauen, saying. This is my beloued Sonne, in whome I am wel pleased.
