Matthew: Chapter 02

2:1 VVhen Iesus was borne at Bethleem in Iury/ in the tyme of Herode the kinge. Beholde ther came wyse men from the Eest to Ierusalem sayinge: When Iesus was borne at Bethleem a cytie of Iewry, in the tyme of Herode the kynge. Beholde, there came wyse men from the east to Ierusalem, VVhen Iesus was borne at Bethleem in Iury/ in the tyme of Herode the kinge. Beholde ther came wyse men from the Eest to Ierusalem sayinge: WHEN Iesus was borne at Bethlehem in Inrie, in the tyme of Herode the king: Beholde there came wise men from the East to Ierusalem,
2:2 Where is he that is borne kynge of Iues? We haue sene his starre in the Eest/ and are come to worship him. sayinge: Where is he that is borne king of Iewes? For we haue sene hys starre in the east, and are come to worshyppe hym. Where is he that is borne kynge of Iues? We haue sene his starre in the Eest/ and are come to worship him. Saying, Where is that king of Iewes that is borne? For we haue sene his starre in the East, and are come to worship him.
2:3 When Herode the kynge had hearde this/ he was troubled/ & all Ierusalem with him/ When Herode the kyng had hearde these thynges, he was troubled, and all the cyte of Ierusalem with hym. 2:4 and he gathered all the chefe Prestes & Scribes of the people/ and axed of them where Christ shulde be borne. 2:5 And they sayde vnto him: at Bethleem in Iury. For thus it is written by the Prophet. And they sayd vnto hym: At Bethleem in Iewrye. For thus it is wrytten by the prophet: And they sayde vnto him: at Bethleem in Iury. For thus it is written by the Prophet. And they said vnto him, at Bethlehem in Iurie. For so it is written by the Prophet:
2:6 And thou Bethleem in the londe of Iury/ art not the leest concerninge the Princes of Iuda. For out of the shall come the captayne/ that shall gouern my people Israhel. And thou Bethleem in the lande of Iuda, art not the leest among the princes of Iuda. For oute of the shal there come vnto me the captayne, that shall gouerne my people Israel. And thou Bethleem in the londe of Iury/ art not the leest concerninge the Princes of Iuda. For out of the shall come the captayne/ that shall gouern my people Israhel. And thou Bethlehem in y land of Iurie, art not the least among the Princes of Iuda: for out of thee shal come vnto me, the captaine that shal gouerne my people Israel.
2:7 Then Herode preuely called the wyse men/ and dyligently enquyred of them/ the tyme of the starre that appered/ Then Herode (when he had preuely called the wyse men) he enquyred of them diligently what tyme the starre appered, Then Herode preuely called the wyse men/ and dyligently enquyred of them/ the tyme of the starre that appered/ Then Herode priuely called the wise men and diligently inquired of them the time of the starre that appeared.
2:8 & sent them to Bethleem sayinge: Goo and searche dyligently for the chylde. And when ye haue founde him/ bringe me worde/ that I maye come and worshyppe him also. & he bad them go to Bethleem, & sayd: God your waye thither, & searche diligently for the childe. And when ye haue founde him, bryng me word agayne, that I maye come and worshyp hym also. & sent them to Bethleem sayinge: Goo and searche dyligently for the chylde. And when ye haue founde him/ bringe me worde/ that I maye come and worshyppe him also. And sent them to Bethlehem, saying, Go, and search diligently for the babe. And when ye haue found him, bring me worde againe, that I may come and worship him also.
2:9 When they had heard the kynge/ they departed: & lo the starre which they sawe in the Eeste/ went before them/ tyll it came & stode ouer the place where the chylde was. When they had heard the kyng, they departed: and lo, the starre which they sawe in the easte, went before them, tyll it came, & stode ouer the place, wherin the chylde was. 2:11 and went into the housse/ and found the chylde with Mary his mother/ & kneled doune and worshipped him/ & opened their treasures/ & offered vnto him gyftes/ gold/ franckynsence & myrre. and went into the house, and found the chylde with Mary his mother & fel downe flatt and worshipped hym, and opened their treasures & offered vnto hym gyftes, golde, franckincense, & myrre. and went into the housse/ and found the chylde with Mary his mother/ & kneled doune and worshipped him/ & opened their treasures/ & offered vnto him gyftes/ gold/ franckynsence & myrre. And went into the house, and found the child with Marie his mother, and falling downe, worshipped him, and opened their treasures, and offered vnto him gyftes, gold, franckensence, and myrrhe.
2:12 And after they were warned of God in a dreame/ that they shuld not go agayne to Herode/ they retourned into their awne countre another waye. And after they were warned of God in slepe (that they shuld not go agayne to Herode) they returned into their awne countre another waye. 2:13 When they were departed: beholde the angell of the Lorde appered to Ioseph in dreame sayinge: aryse & take the chylde and his mother/ and flye into Egypte/ & abyde there tyll I bringe the worde. For Herode wyll seke the chylde to destroye him. When they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appered to Ioseph in slepe saying, aryse, & take the chyld and his mother, and flye into Egipt: and be thou there tyll I brynge the worde. For it wyll come to passe that Herode shall seke the chylde, to destroye hym. When they were departed: beholde the angell of the Lorde appered to Ioseph in dreame sayinge: aryse & take the chylde and his mother/ and flye into Egypte/ & abyde there tyll I bringe the worde. For Herode wyll seke the chylde to destroye him. After their departure, beholde the Angel of the Lord appeared to Ioseph in a dreame, saying, Arise, and take the babe and his mother, and flie into Egypt, and be there til I bring thee worde. For it wil come to passe, that Herode wil seke the babe to destroye him.
2:14 Then he arose/ and toke the chylde and his mother by nyght/ and departed in to Egypte/ So whan he awoke, he toke the childe and hys mother by night, and departed into Egipt, Then he arose/ and toke the chylde and his mother by nyght/ and departed in to Egypte/ Then he arose & toke the childe and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt.
2:15 & was there vnto the deeth of Herod to fulfill that which was spoken of the Lorde/ by the Prophet which sayeth/ out of Egypte haue I called my sonne. and was there vnto the deeth of Herode, that it myght be fulfylled, which was spoken of the Lorde by the prophete, sayenge: out of Egypt haue I called my sonne. & was there vnto the deeth of Herod to fulfill that which was spoken of the Lorde/ by the Prophet which sayeth/ out of Egypte haue I called my sonne. And was there vnto the death of Herode, to fulfil that which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, which sayeth, Out of Egypt haue I called my Sonne.
2:16 Then Herod perceauinge that he was mocked of the wysemen was excedinge wroth & sent forth and slue all the chyldren that were in Bethleem/ and in all the costes there of/ as many as were two yere olde and vnder/ accordinge to the tyme which he had diligētly searched oute of the wyse men. Then Herode whan he sawe that he was mocked of the wyse men, he was exceading wroth, & sent forth men of warre, & slue all the chyldren that were in Bethleem, and in all the coastes, (as many as were two yeere olde or vnder) accordynge to the tyme, whych he had dilygently knowe out of the wyse men. Then Herod perceauinge that he was mocked of the wysemen was excedinge wroth & sent forth and slue all the chyldren that were in Bethleem/ and in all the costes there of/ as many as were two yere olde and vnder/ accordinge to the tyme which he had diligētly searched oute of the wyse men. Then Herode perceauing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceading wroth, & sent forth and slewe al the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coastes therof, as many as were two yere olde & vnder, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the wise men.
2:17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Prophet Ieremy sayinge: Then was fulfylled that, which was spoken by the prophet Ieremy: where as he sayd: Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Prophet Ieremy sayinge: Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Prophet Ieremie, saying,
2:18 On the hilles was a voyce hearde/ morninge/ wepinge/ and greate lamentacion: Rachel wepynge for her chyldren/ and wolde not be conforted/ because they were not. in Rama was there a voyce herde lamentacyon, weping, and great mourninge. Rachel weping for her chyldren, & wolde not be comforted because they were not. On the hilles was a voyce hearde/ morninge/ wepinge/ and greate lamentacion: Rachel wepynge for her chyldren/ and wolde not be conforted/ because they were not. In Rhama was a voyce heard, mourning wepyng, and great lamentation: Rachel wepyng for her children, and would not be conforted, bycause they were not.
2:19 When Herode was deed: beholde/ an angell of the Lorde appered in a dreame to Ioseph in Egypte sayinge: But when Herode was deed: beholde, an angell of the Lorde appeared in a slepe to Ioseph, in Egypte, When Herode was deed: beholde/ an angell of the Lorde appered in a dreame to Ioseph in Egypte sayinge: When Herode was dead, beholde, an Angel of the Lord appeared in a dreame to Ioseph in Egypt,
2:20 aryse & take the chylde and his mother/ & go into the londe of Israel. For they are deed which sought the chyldes lyfe. sayenge: aryse, and take the chylde of hys mother, and go into the lande of Israell. for they are deed which sought the chyldes lyfe. aryse & take the chylde and his mother/ & go into the londe of Israel. For they are deed which sought the chyldes lyfe. Saying, Arise and take the childe and his mother, & go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which soght the childes lyfe.
2:21 Then he arose vp/ & toke the chylde & his mother/ & came into the londe of Israel. And he arose, and toke the chylde and hys mother, & came into the land of Israell. Then he arose vp/ & toke the chylde & his mother/ & came into the londe of Israel. Then he arose vp, and toke the childe and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
2:22 But when he hearde that Archelaus dyd raygne in Iury/ in the roume of his father Herode/ he was afrayde to goo thither. Not withstondinge after he was warned of God in a dreame he turned a syde into the parties of Galile/ But when he hearde that Arthelaus dyd raygne in Iewry, in the rowme of his father Herode, he was afrayde to go thither. Notwithstandinge, after he was warned of God in a slepe, he turned a syde into the parties of Galile, But when he hearde that Archelaus dyd raygne in Iury/ in the roume of his father Herode/ he was afrayde to goo thither. Not withstondinge after he was warned of God in a dreame he turned a syde into the parties of Galile/ But when he heard that Archelaus dyd raygne in Iewrie, in the roume of his father Herode, he was afrayed to go thyther. Notwithstanding, after he was warned of God in a dreame, he turned asyde into the parties of Galile,
2:23 & went & dwelt in a cite called Nazareth/ to fulfill that which was spoken by the Prophetes: he shalbe called a Nazarite. and went and dwelt in a cyte which is called Nazareth: that it might be fulfylled which was spoken by the prophetes: he shalbe called a Nazarite. & went & dwelt in a cite called Nazareth/ to fulfill that which was spoken by the Prophetes: he shalbe called a Nazarite. And went and dwelt in a citie called Nazaret, to fulfyl that which was spoken by the Prophetes: which was, that he shulde be called a Nazarite.
