16:1 THen cam to hym the pharises with the saduces also/ and dyd tempte hym/ desyrīge that he wold shewe them some signe from hevē. THen came the pharises & saduces/ & did tempte him/ desyringe him to shewe them some signe from hevē. THen came the Pharises and Saduces/ & dyd tempte him/ desyringe him to shewe them some signe from heuen. THen came the Pharises & Saduces vnto him, & tēpted him, requyringe him to shewe thē a tokē from heauē.
16:2 He answered and sayde vnto them: Att even ye saye/ we shall have fayre wedder. and that because the skye ys reed: He answered & sayde vnto thē. At even ye saye/ we shall have fayre wedder/ & yt because ye skye is reed: He answered and sayde vnto them. At euen ye saye/ we shall haue fayre wedder/ and that because the skye is reed: But he answered, & sayde: At euē ye saye: It wil be fayre wedder. for ye sskye is reed.
16:3 in the mornīge/ ye saye/ to daye shalbe foule wedder/ and that because the skye ys troūbelous and reed. O ye ypocrytſ/ ye can discerne the fassiō of the skye: and can ye not discerne the sygnes of the tymes? & in the morninge ye saye/ to daye shalbe foule wedder/ and that because the skye is cloudy & reed. O ye ypocrites/ ye can discerne ye fassion of the skye: & can ye not discerne ye signes of the tymes? and in the morninge ye saye/ to daye shalbe foule wedder and that because the skye is cloudy and reed. O ye ypocrites/ ye can discerne the fassion of the skye: and can ye not discerne the signes of the tymes? And in ye mornynge, ye saye: It wil be foule wedder to daye, for the sskye is reed, & gloometh. O ye ypocrytes, ye can discerne the fashion of ye sskye: can ye not thē discerne the tokēs of these tymes also?
16:4 The frowarde nacion/ and advoutrous/ seketh a sygne/ there shall nonother sygne be geven vnto thē/ but the sygne off the prophet Ionas. So lefte he thē ād departed. This euell and aduouterous generaciō seketh a tokē, & there shal no tokē be geuē thē, but the tokē of ye prophet Ionas. So he left thē, and departed.
16:5 And whē his disciples were come to the other side of the water/ they had forgottē to take breed with them. And when his disciples were come to the other side of the water/ they had forgottē to take breed with thē. And when his disciples were come to the other syde of the water/ they had forgotten to take breed with them. And whā his disciples were come to the other syde of the water, they had forgotten to take bred wt them.
16:6 Thē Iesus sayd vnto them: Take hede and beware of the levē of the pharises/ ād of the saduces. Then Iesus sayd vnto them: Take hede and beware of the levē of ye Pharises & of ye Saduces. Then Iesus sayd vnto them: Take hede and beware of the leuen of the Pharises & of the Saduces. Iesus sayde vnto thē: Take hede & bewarre of the leuē of ye Pharises & of the Saduces.
16:7 They thought a monge them selves sayīge: we have brought no breed with vs. And they thought in them selves sayinge: because we have brought no breed with vs. And they thought in thē selues sayinge: because we haue brought no breed with vs. Thē thought they in thē selues, sayēge: We haue takē no bred wt us.
16:8 Whē Iesus vnderstode that/ he sayd vnto thē. O ye of lytell fayth/ why are youre mindes cumbred because ye have brought no breed? When Iesus vnderstode that/ he sayd vnto thē. O ye of lytell faith/ why are youre mindes cumbred because ye have brought no breed? When Iesus vnderstode that/ he sayd vnto them. O ye of lytell faith/ why are youre mindes cumbred because ye haue brought no breed? Whē Iesus perceaued yt, he sayde to thē: O ye of litle faith, why are ye combred (in yor mindes (because ye haue takē no bred wt you?
16:9 Do ye not yet perceave/ nether remēber those v lovesse whē there were v M men/ and howe many baskettſ toke ye vp? Do ye not yet perceave/ nether remēber those .v. loves when there were .v.M. men/ & how many baskettſ toke ye vp? Do ye not yet perceaue/ nether remember those .v. loues when there were v. M. men/ & how many baskettes toke ye vp? Do ye not yet perceaue? Remembre ye not those fyue loaues, whē there were fyue thousande mē, and how many basskettes toke ye vp?
16:10 Nether the vij loves/ whē there were iiij M: and howe many baskettſ toke ye vppe ? Nether the .vii. loves/ when there were .iiiii.M. & how many baskettes toke ye vp? Nether the .vij. loues when there were .v. M. and how many baskettes toke ye vp? Nether ye seuē loaues whan there were foure thousande men, & how many baskettes toke ye vp?
16:11 Why perceave ye not thē/ that y spake not vnto you of breed/ whē I sayde/ beware off the levē of the pharises and of the saduces? Why perceave ye not then/ yt I spake not vnto you of breed/ whē I sayde/ beware of the leven of the Pharises & of the Saduces? Why perceaue ye not then/ that I spake not vnto you of breed/ when I sayde/ beware of the leuē of the Pharises and of the Saduces? Why perceaue ye not then, yt I spake not to you of bred, whē I saide: bewarre of ye leuē of ye Pharises & of ye Saduces?
16:12 Thē vnderstode they/ howe that he bad not them beware of the levē of breed: butt of the doctryne of the pharises/ and of the saduces. Thē vnderstode they/ how that he bad not them beware of the leven of breed: but of the doctrine of the Pharises/ and of the Saduces. 16:13 Whē Iesus cā in to the coostſ of the cite which is called cesarea philippi/ he axed hys disciples sayinge: whom do mē saye that I the soñe of mā am? When Iesus cam in to the costſ of the cite which is called Cesarea Philippi/ he axed his disciples sayinge: whom do men saye yt I the sonne of mā am? When Iesus came into the costes of the cite which is called Cesarea Philippi/ he axed his disciples sayinge: whom do men saye that I the sonne of man am? Then came Iesus in to the coastes of the cite Cesarea Philippi, & axed his disciples & saide: Whō do mē saie, yt ye sonne of mā is?
16:14 They saide/ some saye that thou arte Ihō baptist/ some helyas/ some Ieremias/ or wō of the prophetſ. They saide/ some saye yt thou arte Ihon Baptist/ some Helias/ some Ieremias/ or one of ye prophetſ. They sayde/ some saye that thou arte Iohn Baptist/ some Helyas/ some Ieremias/ or one of the Prophetes. They sayde: Some saye, yt thou art Ihō the baptist, Some yt thou art Elias, Some yt thou art Ieremy, or one of ye prophetes.
16:15 He seyde vnto them: but whō saye ye that I am? He sayde vnto thē: but whō saye ye yt I am? He sayde vnto them: but whom saye ye that I am? He saide to thē: But whō saye ye yt I am.
16:16 Symon Peter answered/ ād sayde: Thou arte Crist the sonne of the livynge god. Simō Peter answered & sayde: Thou arte Christ ye sonne of the lyvinge God. Simon Peter answered & sayde: Thou arte Christ the sonne of the lyuinge God. Thē answered Symō Peter and saide: Thou art Christ ye sonne of ye lyuinge God.
16:17 And Iesus answered and sayde to him: happy arte thou Simon the sonne of Ionas/ for fleshe and bloud have nott opened vnto the that/ butt my father which is ī hevē. And Iesus answered & sayde to him: happy arte thou Simon the sonne of Ionas/ for fleshe & bloud hath not opened vnto the yt/ but my father which is in hevē. And Iesus answered & sayde to him: happy arte thou Simon the sonne of Ionas/ for flesshe and bloud hath not opened vnto the that/ but my father which is in heuen. And Iesus answered, & saide vnto hī: Blessed art thou Symō ye sonne of Ionas, for flesh & bloude hath not opened yt vnto the, but my father yt is in heauē.
16:18 And I saye also vnto the/ that thou arte Peter. And apon this roocke I wyll bylde my congregaciō. And the gates off hell shall nott prevayle a geynst it. And I saye also vnto the/ yt thou arte Peter: and apon this rocke I wyll bylde my congregacion. And the gates of hell shall not prevayle ageynst it. And I saye also vnto the/ that thou arte Peter: and apon this rocke I will bylde my congregacion. And the gates of hell shall not preuayle ageynst it. And I saie to ye: Thou art Peter, & vpō this rocke wil I builde my cōgregacion: and ye gates of hell shal not preuayle agaynst it.
16:19 And I wyll yeve vnto the/ the keyes of the kyngdō of heven/ ād whatsoever thou byndest vppō erth/ yt shall be bounde in heven. and whatsoever thou lowsest on erthe/ yt shalbe lowsed in heven. And I wyll geve vnto the/ the keyes of the kyngdom of heven: and what soever thou byndest vpon erth/ shall be bounde in heven: and what soever thou lowsest on erthe/ shalbe lowsed in heven. And I wil geue vnto the the keyes of the kyngdō of heuen: & what soeuer thou byndest vpon erth/ shall be bounde in heuen: and what soeuer thou lowsest on erthe/ shalbe lowsed in heuen. And the keyes of heauen wil I geue vnto the: Whatsoeuer thou shalt bynde vpon earth, shalbe bounde also in heauen: & whatsoeuer thou shalt lowse vpon earth, shalbe lowsed also in heauē.
16:20 Thē he charged his disciples/ that they shulde tell no mā/ that he was Iesus Christ. Then he charged his disciples/ yt they shulde tell no man/ yt he was Iesus Christ. Then he charged his disciples that they shulde tell no man/ that he was Iesus Christ. Then charged he his disciples, that they shulde tell no mā that he was Iesus Christ.
16:21 From that tyme forth/ Iesus begā to shewe vnto hys disciples/ howe that he must go vnto Ierusalē/ ād suffer many thingſ of the seniorſ/ ād of the hye prestes/ ād of the scribes/ ād must be killed/ and ryse agayne the thirde daye. From yt tyme forth/ Iesus began to shewe vnto his disciples/ how yt he must go vnto Ierusalem/ & suffer many thingſ of ye Elders/ & of ye hye prestes/ & of the scribes/ & must be killed/ & ryse agayne ye thirde daye. From that tyme forth Iesus began to shewe vnto his disciples/ how that he must go vnto Ierusalem/ and suffer many thinges of the elders/ and of the hye Prestes/ & of the Scribes/ & must be kylled/ & ryse agayne the thyrde daye. From that tyme forth beganne Iesus to shew vnto his disciples, how that he must go vnto Ierusalē, and suffre many thinges of the elders, and of the hye prestes, and of the scrybes, and be put to death, and ryse againe the thirde daye.
16:22 Peter toke hī aside/ ād begā to rebuke hym sayīge: master faver thy sylfe/ this shall not come vnto the. But Peter toke him a syde/ & began to rebuke him sayinge: master faver thy sylfe this shall not come vnto the. But Peter toke him a syde/ and began to rebuke him sayinge: master fauer thy selfe/ this shall not come vnto the. But Peter toke him asyde, and beganne to rebuke him, sayenge: LORDE, fauoure thy self, let not this happen vnto the.
16:23 Thē tourned he aboute/ ād sayde vnto Peter: go after me Satan/ thou offendest me/ because thou perceavest nott godly thyngſ: but worldly thyngſ. Then tourned he aboute/ & sayde vnto Peter: come after me Satan/ thou offendest me/ because thou sauourest not godly thingſ/ but wordly thingſ Then tourned he aboute/ and sayde vnto Peter: come after me Satan/ thou offendest me/ because thou sauourest not godly thinges/ but wordly thinges. Neuertheles he turned him aboute, & sayde vnto Peter: Auoyde fro me Sathā, thou hindrest me, for thou sauourest not ye thinges that be of God, but of men.
16:24 Iesus then sayde to hys disciples. Yf eny mā wyll folowe me/ leet hym forsake hym sylfe/ and take hys crosse and folowe me. Iesus then sayde to his disciples. If eny man wyll folowe me/ leet him forsake him sylfe/ and take vp his crosse and folowe me. Iesus then sayde to his disciples. If eny man will folowe me/ leet him forsake him selfe/ & take vp his crosse and folowe me. Then sayde Iesus vnto his disciples: Yf eny man wil folowe me, let him forsake him self, & take vp his crosse, and folowe me.
16:25 For who soever wyll save hys lyfe/ shall loose yt. And whosoever shall loose hys lyfe for my sake/ shall fynde yt. For who soever wyll save his lyfe/ shall loose it. And whosoever shall loose his lyfe for my sake/ shall fynde it. For who soeuer will saue his lyfe/ shall loose it. And who soeuer shall loose his lyfe for my sake/ shall fynde it. For who so wil saue his life, shal lose it: but who so loseth his life for my sake, shal fynde it.
16:26 Whatt shall hit proffet a man/ yf he shulde wyn all the whoole worlde: so he loose hys owne soule? Or els what shall a man geve to redeme hys soule agayne with all? What shall it proffet a man/ though he shulde wynne all the whoole worlde: yf he loose his owne soule? Or els what shall a man geve to redeme his soule agayne with all? What shall it proffet a man/ though he shulde wynne all the whoole worlde: yf he loose his awne soul? Or els what shall a man geue to redeme his soule agayne with all? What helpeth it a man though he wanne the whole worlde, and yet suffred harme in his soule? Or what can a man geue, to redeme his soule withall?
16:27 For the soñe off man shall come in the glory of hys father/ with hys angels/ and thē shall he rewarde every man accordinge to hys dedes. For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father/ wt his angels: & then shall he rewarde every man accordinge to his dedes. For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father/ with his angels: & then shall he rewarde euery man accordinge to his dedes. For it wil come to passe, that the sonne of mā shal come in the glory of his father with his angels, and then shal he rewarde euery one acordinge to his dedes.
16:28 Verely I saye vnto you/ some there be a monge thē that here stonde/ whych shall nott taste of deeth/ tyll they shall have sene the sonne of man come in hys kyngdom̃. Verely I saye vnto you/ some ther be a monge them that here stonde/ which shall not taste of deeth/ tyll they shall have sene the sonne of man come in his kyngdomen. Verely I saye vnto you/ some ther be a monge them that here stonde/ which shall not taste of deeth/ tyll they shall haue sene the sonne of man come in his kyngdome. Verely I saye vnto you: there stonde here some, which shal not taist of death, tyll they se ye sonne of mā come in his kingdome.
