Matthew: Chapter 15

15:1 THen came to Iesus Scribes & Pharises from Ierusalem/ sayinge: Then came to Iesus Scribes and Pharises (whyche were come from Ierusalem) saying: THen came to Iesus Scribes & Pharises from Ierusalem/ sayinge: THEN come to Iesus certeyn Scribes & Phariseis of Ierusalem, saying,
15:2 why do thy disciples transgresse the tradiciōs of the elders? for they wesshe not their hondes when they eate breed. why do thy disciples transgresse the tradicion of the elders? for they washe not theyr handes when they eate bread. why do thy disciples transgresse the tradiciōs of the elders? for they wesshe not their hondes when they eate breed. 15:3 He answered & sayde vnto them: why do ye also transgresse the commaundement of God/ thorowe youre tradicions? 15:4 For God cōmaunded sayinge: honoure thy father and mother and he that cursseth father or mother shall suffer deeth. For God commaundeth sayinge: honoure father and mother, and he that cursseth father or mother: let hym dye the deeth. For God cōmaunded sayinge: honoure thy father and mother and he that cursseth father or mother shall suffer deeth. For God hath commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother, And he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
15:5 But ye saye/ euery man shall saye to his father or mother: that which thou desyrest of me to helpe the with: is geuen God: and so shall he not honoure his father or his mother. But ye saye: euery one shall saye to his father and mother: what gift so euer shulde haue come of me, the same is turned vnto thy profyt: & so shall he not honoure his father or his mother. But ye saye/ euery man shall saye to his father or mother: that which thou desyrest of me to helpe the with: is geuen God: and so shall he not honoure his father or his mother. But ye say whosoeuer shal say to his father or mother: by enery gyft that procedeth from me, thou shalt be holpen:
15:6 And thus haue ye made/ that the commaundement of God is without effecte/ through youre tradicions. And thus haue ye made the commaundement of God of none effecte, because of youre awne tradicyon. And thus haue ye made/ that the commaundement of God is without effecte/ through youre tradicions. Though he honour not his father, or his mother: and thus hane ye made, that the commandement of God is without effect, through your traditions.
15:7 Ypocrites/ well prophesied of you Esayas sayinge: Ypocrites, full well dyd Esaye prophesie of you, saying: Ypocrites/ well prophesied of you Esayas sayinge: Hvpocrites, wel prophecied of you Esai, saying,
15:8 This people draweth nye vnto me with their mouthes/ and honoureth me with their lyppes/ howbe it their hertes are farre from me: This people draweth nye vnto me with theyr mouth, and honoureth me with lyppes, howbeit, their hertes are farre from me: This people draweth nye vnto me with their mouthes/ and honoureth me with their lyppes/ howbe it their hertes are farre from me: This people draweth nye vnto me with their mouthes, and honoureth me with theyr lyppes, how be it, their hartes are farre from me:
15:9 but in vayne they worshyppe me teachinge doctrines/ which are nothinge but mens precepts. but in vayne do they serue me; teachynge the doctrines and preceptes of men. but in vayne they worshyppe me teachinge doctrines/ which are nothinge but mens precepts. 15:10 And he called the people vnto him/ & sayde to them: heare and vnderstonde. And he called the people to him, and sayd vnto them: heare and vnderstande. 15:11 That which goeth in to the mouth/ defyleth not the man: but that which commeth out of the mouth/ defyleth the man. That whych goeth into the mouth, defyleth not the man: but that which commeth out of the mouth, defyleth the man. That which goeth in to the mouth/ defyleth not the man: but that which commeth out of the mouth/ defyleth the man. That which goeth into the mouth, de£leth not the man: but that which cometh out of the mouth, defileth the man.
15:12 Then came his disciples/ and sayde vnto him: Perceauest thou not/ how that the Pharises are offended in hearinge this saying? Then came his disciples, and sayde vnto him: knowest thou not, that the Pharises were offended at this saying? 15:13 He answered & sayd: all plantes which my heauēly father hath not planted/ shalbe plucked vp by the rotes. But he answered and sayd. 15:14 Let thē alone/ they be the blinde leaders of the blinde. If the blinde leede the blinde/ both shall fall into the dyche. Let them alone, they be the blynde leaders of the blynde. If the blynde leade the blynde, both shall fall into the dyche. Let thē alone/ they be the blinde leaders of the blinde. If the blinde leede the blinde/ both shall fall into the dyche. 15:16 Then sayde Iesus: are ye yet without vnderstōdinge? Iesus sayde: are ye also yet without vnderstandinge? Then sayde Iesus: are ye yet without vnderstōdinge? Then sayd Iesus, Are ye yet without vnderstandyng?
15:17 perceaue ye not/ that whatsoeuer goeth in at the mouth/ descendeth doune into the bely/ & is cast out into the draught? do not ye yet vnderstande, that whatsoeuer entreth in at the mouth, goeth into the bely, & is cast out into the draught? perceaue ye not/ that whatsoeuer goeth in at the mouth/ descendeth doune into the bely/ & is cast out into the draught? Perceiue ye not, that what soeuer goeth in at the mouth, descendeth downe into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
15:18 But those thinges which procede out of the mouth/ come from the herte/ and they defyle the mā. But those thynges whych procede out of the mouth, come forth from the hert, & they defyle the man. But those thinges which procede out of the mouth/ come from the herte/ and they defyle the mā. But those thynges which precede out of the mouth, come from the hart, & they defile the man.
15:19 For out of the herte come euill thoughtis/ murder/ breaking of wedlocke/ whordō/ theefte/ false witnesberinge/ blasphemye. For out of the herte proceade euill thoughtes; murders, breakynge of wedlocke, whordoms, theftes, falsewitnesse, blasphemies. For out of the herte come euill thoughtis/ murder/ breaking of wedlocke/ whordō/ theefte/ false witnesberinge/ blasphemye. For out of the hart come euyl thogtes, murder, breakyng of wedloke whoredome, thefte, false wytnes bearing, slanders. These are the thynges which defyle a man.
15:20 These are the thinges which defyle a man. But to eate with vnwesshen hondes/ defyleth not a man. These are the thinges, which defyle a man. But to take meate wt vnwasshen handes, defileth not a man. These are the thinges which defyle a man. But to eate with vnwesshen hondes/ defyleth not a man. 15:22 And beholde a woman which was a Cananite came out of the same costes/ and cryed vnto him sayinge: haue mercy on me Lorde the sonne of Dauid/ my doughter is pytiously vexed with a deuyll. & beholde, a woman of Canaan (which cam out of the same coastes) cryed vnto him, sayinge: haue mercy on me o Lorde, thou sonne of Dauid: My daughter is pyteously vexed wyth a deuyll. And beholde a woman which was a Cananite came out of the same costes/ and cryed vnto him sayinge: haue mercy on me Lorde the sonne of Dauid/ my doughter is pytiously vexed with a deuyll. And beholde a woman whych was a Cananite came out of the same coastes, & cryed, saying vnto him, Uaue mercie on me Lord, thou sonne of Dauid, my daughter is piteously vexed with a deuil.
15:23 And he gaue her neuer a worde to answer. Then came to him his disciples/ and besought him sayinge: sende her awaye/ for she foloweth vs cryinge. But he answered her nothing at all, & his disciples came, and besought him, sayinge: sende her awaye, for she crieth after vs: And he gaue her neuer a worde to answer. Then came to him his disciples, & besoght him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth after vs.
15:24 He answered/ and sayde: I am not sent/ but vnto the loost shepe of the housse of Israel. 15:25 Then she came & worshipped him/ sayinge: master helpe me. Then cam she, & worshipped him, sayinge: lorde, helpe me. Then she came & worshipped him/ sayinge: master helpe me. Then she came and worshypped him, saying, Lord helpe me.
15:26 He answered & sayde: yt is not good/ to take the chyldrens breed/ and to cast it to whelpes. He answered and said: it is not mete, to take the chyldrens bread, and to cast it to dogges. He answered & sayde: yt is not good/ to take the chyldrens breed/ and to cast it to whelpes. But he answered, and sayed, It is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to whelpes.
15:27 She answered and sayd: truthe Lorde/ neuerthelesse the whelpes eate of the crōmes/ which fall from their masters table. She answered & sayde: truthe Lorde, for the dogges eate of the crommes, which fall from their masters table. She answered and sayd: truthe Lorde/ neuerthelesse the whelpes eate of the crōmes/ which fall from their masters table. And she saied, Trueth Lord, for in deed the whelpes eat of the crommes, which fall from their masters table.
15:28 Then Iesus answered & sayde vnto her. O womā greate is thy fayth/ be it to the/ euen as thou desyrest. And her doughter was made whole euen at that same houre. Then Iesus answered and sayde vnto her. O woman, greate is thy faith, be it vnto the, euen as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole euen at that same tyme. Then Iesus answered & sayde vnto her. O womā greate is thy fayth/ be it to the/ euen as thou desyrest. And her doughter was made whole euen at that same houre. Then Iesus answered, and sayed vnto her, 0 woman great is thy faith, be it to thee, euen as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole euen at that same houre.
15:29 Then Iesus went awaye from thence/ & came nye vnto the see of Galile/ and went vp in to a mountayne and sat doune there. And Iesus went awaye from thence, and cam nye vnto the see of Galile, & went vp into a mountayne, & sat doune there. 15:30 And moche people came vnto him/ hauinge with thē/ halt/ blynde/ domme/ maymed/ and other many: and cast them doune at Iesus fete. And he healed them/ And moche people came vnto him, bringing wt them those that were lame, blind, deafe, maymed, and other many: & cast them downe at Iesus fete And he healed them: And moche people came vnto him/ hauinge with thē/ halt/ blynde/ domme/ maymed/ and other many: and cast them doune at Iesus fete. 15:31 in so moche that the people wondred/ to se the dōme speake/ the maymed whole/ the halt to go/ & the blynde to se. And they glorified the God of Israel. in so moch, that the people wondered, whan they sawe the domme speake, the maymed to be whole, the lame to walke, and the blynde to se. 15:32 Then Iesus called his disciples to him/ and sayde: I haue compassion on the people/ because they haue cōtinued with me now .iij. dayes/ & haue nought to eate: & I will not let thē departe fastinge/ leste they perisshe in the waye. Then Iesus called his disciples vnto him, & sayde: I haue compassyon on the people, because they continue with me nowe .iii. dayes, & haue nothing to eate: & I will not let them departe fastynge, lest they myscary by the waye. Then Iesus called his disciples to him/ and sayde: I haue compassion on the people/ because they haue cōtinued with me now .iij. dayes/ & haue nought to eate: & I will not let thē departe fastinge/ leste they perisshe in the waye. Then Iesus called his disciples, and sayd, I haue compassion on the people, because they haue continued with me already three dayes, and haue noght to eat: and I wil not let them depart fastyng, lest they faynt in the way.
15:33 And his disciples sayd vnto him: whēce shuld we get so moche breed in the wyldernes/ as shuld suffise so greate a multitude? And his disciples saye vnto him whence shulde we get so moche bread in the wyldernes, as to suffyse so greate a multitude? And his disciples sayd vnto him: whēce shuld we get so moche breed in the wyldernes/ as shuld suffise so greate a multitude? 15:34 And Iesus sayde vnto them: how many loues haue ye? And they sayde: seuen/ and a feawe lytle fysshes. And Iesus sayeth vnto them: howe many loaues haue ye? And they saye seuen, & a fewe lytle fysshes. And Iesus sayde vnto them: how many loues haue ye? And they sayde: seuen/ and a feawe lytle fysshes. And Iesus sayd vnto them, how many loues haue ye? And they sayd, Seuen, and a fewe lytel fishes.

15:36 and toke the seuen loues/ and the fysshes/ and gaue thankes/ and brake them/ and gaue to his disciples/ and the disciples gaue them to the people. and toke the seuen loaues, & the fysshes: & after that he had geuen thankes, he brake them, and gaue to his disciples, & the discyples gaue them to the people. and toke the seuen loues/ and the fysshes/ and gaue thankes/ and brake them/ and gaue to his disciples/ and the disciples gaue them to the people. 15:37 And they dyd all eate and were suffised. And they toke vp of the broken meate that was lefte .vij. basketes full. And they dyd all eate, and were suffysed. 15:38 And yet they that ate were .iiij. M. men/ besyde wemen and chyldren. And yet, they that dyd eate were .iiii.M. men. besyde wemen & chyldren. And yet they that ate were .iiij. M. men/ besyde wemen and chyldren. And yet they that dyd eat, were foure thousand men, beside women, and children.
15:39 And he sent awaye the people/ and toke shippe and came in to the parties of Magdala And he sent awaye the people, and toke shyppe, & came into the parties of Magdala.
