Matthew: Chapter 10

10:1 ANd he called his .xij. disciples vnto him/ & gaue them power ouer vnclene sprites/ to cast them oute/ and to heale all maner of sickenesses/ & all maner deseases. And whan his .xij. disciples were called vnto him, he gaue them power agaynst vncleane spretes, to cast them out, and to heale all maner of syckenesse, and all maner of dysease. 10:2 The names of the .xij. Apostles are these. The fyrst/ Simon called also Peter: and Andrew his brother. Iames the sonne of zebede and Iohn his brother. The names of the .xij. 10:3 Philip & Bartlemew. Thomas and Mathew the Publican. Iames the sonne of Alphe/ and Lebbeus other wyse called Taddeus. Philip & Bartholomew: Thomas and Mathew, which had bene a Publican. Iames the sonne of Alphe, and Lebbeus (whose syrname was Taddeus) Philip & Bartlemew. Thomas and Mathew the Publican. Iames the sonne of Alphe/ and Lebbeus other wyse called Taddeus. 10:5 These xij. dyd Iesus send/ & commaunded them sayinge: Go not into the wayes that leade to gentyls/ & in to the cities of the Samaritans enter ye not. Iesus sent forth these twelue in nombre, whom he commaunded, saying. Go not into the waye of the gentyls, and into the cytie of the Samaritans enter ye not. These xij. dyd Iesus send/ & commaunded them sayinge: Go not into the wayes that leade to gentyls/ & in to the cities of the Samaritans enter ye not. These twelue did Iesus send, and commanded them, saying,
10:6 But go rather to the lost shepe of the housse of Israel. But goo rather to the lost shepe of the house of Israell. But go rather to the lost shepe of the housse of Israel. Go not into the way of the Gentils, and into the cities of the Samaritans, enter ye not: But go rather to the lost shepe of the house of Israel.

10:10 nor yet scrip towardes your iorney: nether two cotes/ nether shoes/ nor yet a staffe. For the workman is worthy to haue his meate. nor yet scrip towardes your iorney: nether two cotes, nether shoes, nor yet a rodde. 10:11 In to whatsoeuer cyte or toune ye shall come/ enquyre who is worthy in it/ & there abyde tyll ye goo thēce. 10:13 And yf the housse be worthy/ youre peace shall come vpon it. But yf it be not worthy/ youre peace shall retourne to you agayne. And yf the house be worthy, let youre peace come vpon it. 10:14 And whosoeuer shall not receaue you/ nor will heare youre preachinge: when ye departe oute of that housse or that cite/ shake of the duste of youre fete. And whosoeuer shall not receaue you, nor wyll heare youre preachynge: when ye departe oute of that house or that cytie shake of the duste of youre fete. 10:15 Truly I saye vnto you: it shalbe easier for the londe of zodoma & Gomorra in the daye of iudgement/ then for that cyte. Verely I saye vnto you: it shalbe easier for the land of Zodoma and Gomorra in the daye of iudgement, then for that cytie. 10:17 Beware of men/ for they shall deliuer you vp to the counsels/ and shall scourge you in their synagoges. 10:19 But when they delyuer you vp/ take no thought how or what ye shall speake/ for yt shalbe geuen you/ euen in that same houre/ what ye shall saye. 10:20 For it is not ye that speke/ but the sprite of youre father which speaketh in you. For it is not ye that speke, but the spryte of youre father which speaketh in yon. 10:21 The brother shall betraye the brother to deeth/ & the father the sonne. And the chyldren shall aryse agaynst their fathers & mothers/ & shall put them to deeth: The brother shall delyuer vp the brother to deeth, & the father the sonne. And the children shal aryse agaynst their fathers and mothers, and shall put them to deeth: The brother shall betraye the brother to deeth/ & the father the sonne. 10:22 and ye shall be hated of all men for my name. But he that endureth to the ende/ shalbe saued. & ye shalbe hated of all men for my name sake. But he that endureth to the ende, shalbe saued. and ye shall be hated of all men for my name. But he that endureth to the ende/ shalbe saued. And ye shalbe hated of al men for my name: but he that endureth to the ende, shalbe saued.
10:23 When they persecute you in one cite/ flye in to another. I tell you for a truthe/ ye shall not fynysshe all that cities of Israel/ tyll the sonne of man be come. But when they persecute you in this cytie, flye ye into another. For verely I saye vnto you: ye shall not go thorowe all the cyties of Israell tyll the sonne of man be come. When they persecute you in one cite/ flye in to another. I tell you for a truthe/ ye shall not fynysshe all that cities of Israel/ tyll the sonne of man be come. When they persecute you in one citie, flye into an other: for verely I say vnto you, ye shal not finish all the cities of Israel, tyl the sonne of man become.
10:24 The disciple ys not above hys master: nor yet the servaunt aboue his lorde. The disciple is not aboue the master: nor the seruaunt aboue his Lord. 10:25 It is ynough for the disciple to be as hys master ys/ and that the seruaunt be as his lorde ys. If they have called the lorde of the housse Beelzebub: how moche more shall they call them of his housholde so? It is ynough for the disciple, that he be as his master is, and that the seruaunt be as his Lorde is. If they haue called the Lord of the house, Beelzebub: how moche more shal they call them of his householde so? It is ynough for the disciple to be as hys master ys/ and that the seruaunt be as his lorde ys. If they have called the lorde of the housse Beelzebub: how moche more shall they call them of his housholde so? It is inough for the disciple to be as his master is, and that the seruant be as his Lord is. If they haue called the Lord of the house Beelzebub, how muche more them of his houshold?
10:26 Feare them not therfore. There is no thynge so closse/ that shall not be opened/ and no thynge so hyd/ that shall not be knowen. Feare them not therfore. For there is nothing closse, that shall not be opened: and nothynge hyd, that shall not be knowen. Feare them not therfore. 10:27 What I tell you in dercknes/ that speake ye in lyght. And what ye heare in the eare/ that preache ye on the housse toppes. What I tel you in darknes, that speake ye in lyght. 10:28 And feare ye not them which kyll the body/ and be not able to kyll the soule. But rather feare him/ which is able to destroye both soule and body into hell. And feare ye not them which kyll the body but are not able to kyll the soule. But rather feare him, which is able to destroye both soule and body into hell. 10:29 Are not two sparowes solde for a farthinge? And none of them dothe lyght on the grounde/ without youre father. Are not two lytle sparowes sold for a farthyng? 10:32 Who soeuer therfore shall knowledge me before men/ him will I knowledge also before my father which is in heuen. Whosoeuer therfore shal confesse me before men, him will I confesse also before my father which is in heauen.
10:33 But whosoeuer shall denye me before men/ him will I also denye before my father which is in heven. 10:34 Thynke not/ that I am come to sende peace into the erth. I came not to send peace/ but a swearde. Thinke not that I am come to sende peace into the erth. I came not to send peace, but a sweard. 10:35 For I am come to set a man at varyaunce ageynst his father/ and the doughter ageynst hyr mother/ & the doughterelawe ageynst her motherlawe: For I am come to set a man at variaunce agaynst his father, & the daughter agaynst her mother, & the daughter in lawe agaynst her mother in lawe. 10:36 And a mannes fooes shalbe they of his awne housholde. And a mannes foes shalbe they that are of his awne houshold. And a mannes fooes shalbe they of his awne housholde. And a mans foes, shalbe they of his own housholde.
10:37 He that louith his father/ or mother more then me/ is not mete for me. And he that loueth his sonne/ or doughter more then me/ is not mete for me. He that loueth father, or mother more then me, is not worthy of me. And he that loueth sonne or daughter more then me, is not worthy of me. 10:38 And he that taketh not his crosse and foloweth me/ is not mete for me. And he that taketh not hys crosse and foloweth me, is not worthy of me And he that taketh not his crosse and foloweth me/ is not mete for me. And he that taketh not is crosse and foloweth after me, is not mete for me.
10:39 He that fyndeth his lyfe/ shall lose it: and he that losith his lyfe for my sake/ shall fynde it. He that fyndeth his lyfe, shall lose it: and he that losyth his lyfe for my sake, shall fynde it. He that fyndeth his lyfe/ shall lose it: and he that losith his lyfe for my sake/ shall fynde it. He that will saue his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth this hfe for my sake, shall saue it.
10:40 He that receauith you/ receauith me: and he that receauith me/ receauith him that sent me. He that receaueth you, receaueth me: & he that receaueth me, receaueth him that sent me. He that receauith you/ receauith me: and he that receauith me/ receauith him that sent me. He that receaueth you, receaueth me: and he that receaueth me, receaueth him that sent me.
10:41 He that receauith a Prophet in the name of a Prophet/ shall receaue a Prophetes rewarde. And he that receauith a righteous man in the name of a righteous man/ shall receaue the rewarde of a righteous mā. He that receaueth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shal receaue a prophetes rewarde. And he that receaueth a ryghteous man, in the name of a ryghteous man, shall receaue a righteous mans rewarde: He that receauith a Prophet in the name of a Prophet/ shall receaue a Prophetes rewarde. And he that receauith a righteous man in the name of a righteous man/ shall receaue the rewarde of a righteous mā. He that receaueth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shal receaue a prophetes rewarde: and he that receaueth a ryghteous man, in the name of a righteous man shal receaue the reward of a righteous man.
10:42 And whosoeuer shall geue vnto one of these lytle ones to drincke/ a cuppe of colde water only/ in the name of a disciple: I tell you of a trueth/ he shall not lose his rewarde. And whosoeuer shall geue vnto one of these lytle ones to dryncke, a cuppe of colde water onely (in the name of a disciple) verely I saye vnyou, he shall not lose his rewarde. And whosoeuer shall geue vnto one of these lytle ones to drincke/ a cuppe of colde water only/ in the name of a disciple: I tell you of a trueth/ he shall not lose his rewarde. And who so euer shal gene vnto one of these litle ons to drincke a cup of colde water onely, in the name of a Disciple: verely I say vnto you, he shal not lose his rewarde.
