Mark: Chapter 12

12:1 ANd he beganne to speake vnto them in similitudes. A certayne man planted a vyneyarde/ and compased it with an hedge and ordeyned a wyne presse/ and bylt a toure in it. And let it out to hyre vnto husbandmen/ & went into a straunge countre. And he beganne to speake vnto them by parables. 12:2 And when the tyme was come/ he sent to the tenauntes a seruaunt/ that he myght receaue of the tenauntes of the frute of the vyneyarde. And when the tyme was come, he sent to the husbandmen a seruaunt, that he myght receaue of the husbandmen of the frute of the vyneyarde. And when the tyme was come/ he sent to the tenauntes a seruaunt/ that he myght receaue of the tenauntes of the frute of the vyneyarde. And when the tyme was come, he sent to the tenantes a seruant, that he might receaue of the tenantes, of the frute of the vineyard.
12:3 And they caught him and bet him/ and sent him agayne emptye. And they caught hym, and bet hym, and sent hym awaye agayne emptye. And they caught him and bet him/ and sent him agayne emptye. But they caught him, and bet him, and sent him away empty.
12:4 And moreouer he sent vnto them another seruaunt/ and at him they cast stones and brake his heed/ and sent him agayne all to reuyled. And moreouer, he sent vnto them another seruaunt, and at hym they cast stones and brake hys heed, & sent him awaye agayne all to reuyled. And moreouer he sent vnto them another seruaunt/ and at him they cast stones and brake his heed/ and sent him agayne all to reuyled. 12:5 And agayne he sent another/ and him they kylled: and many other/ beetynge some and kyllinge some. And agayne he sent another, and him they killed: and many other, beating some, and kylling some.
12:6 Yet had he one sonne whom he loued tenderly/ him also he sent at the last vnto them sayinge: they will feare my sonne. And so whan he had yet but one beloued sonne, he sent him also at the last vnto them, sayinge: they wyll feare my sonne. Yet had he one sonne whom he loued tenderly/ him also he sent at the last vnto them sayinge: they will feare my sonne. Yet had he one sonne whom he loued tenderly: him also he sent at the last vnto them, saying, They wyl reuerence my sonne.
12:7 But the tenauntes sayde amongest them selues: this is the heyre: come let vs kyll him/ and the inheritaunce shalbe oures. But the husbandmen sayd amongest them selues: this is the heyre: come let vs kyl him, & the inheritaunce shalbe oures. 12:8 And they toke him & kyllid him/ and cast him out of the vyneyarde. And they toke him & kylled him, & cast hym out of the vyneyard. And they toke him & kyllid him/ and cast him out of the vyneyarde. And they toke him, and kylled hym and cast him out of the vineyard.
12:9 What shall then the lorde of the vyneyarde do? He wil come and destroye the tenauntes/ & let out the vyneyarde to other. What shall therfore the Lorde of the vyneyarde do? He shall come, ad destroye the husbandmen, & let out the vyneyarde vnto other. What shall then the lorde of the vyneyarde do? He wil come and destroye the tenauntes/ & let out the vyneyarde to other. What shal then the Lord of the vineyard do? He wil come and destroy the tenantes, and let out the vineyard to other.
12:10 Haue ye not redde this scripture? The stoone which the bylders dyd refuse/ is made the chefe stoone in the corner: this was done of the Lorde/ & is meruelous in oure eyes. Haue ye not red this scrypture? The stone whych the buylders dyd refuse, is become the chefe stoone of the corner? Haue ye not redde this scripture? The stone which the buylders did refuse, is made the chiefe stone in the corner.
12:11 And they went about to take him/ but they feared the people. this is the Lordes doynge, & it is meruelous in oure eyes. And they went about to take him/ but they feared the people. This was done of the Lord, and is marueilous in our eyes.
12:12 For they perceaued that he spake that similitude agaynst them. And they left him and went their waye. They went about also to take him, & feared the people. For they knewe, that he had spoken the parable agaynst them. And they left hym and went theyr waye: For they perceaued that he spake that similitude agaynst them. And they left him and went their waye. Then they went about to take hym, but they feared the people, For they perceaued that he spake that similitude against them, and they left him, and went their way.
12:13 And they sent vnto him certayne of the Pharises with Herodes seruātes/ to take him in his wordes. 12:14 And assone as they were come they sayd vnto him: master we knowe that thou arte true/ and carest for no man: for thou consyderest not the degre of men/ but teachest the waye of God truly: Is it laufull to paye tribute to Cesar/ or not? And assone as they were come, they sayd vnto him: Master, we knowe that thou arte true, & carest for no man: for thou consyderest not the outward appearaunce of men, but teachest the waye of God truly: Is it laufull to paye tribute to Cesar, or not? And assone as they were come they sayd vnto him: master we knowe that thou arte true/ and carest for no man: for thou consyderest not the degre of men/ but teachest the waye of God truly: Is it laufull to paye tribute to Cesar/ or not? And as sone as they were come, they sayd vnto him, Master, we knowe that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou conaiderest not the personne of men, but teachest the way of God truely: Is it lawful to pay tribute to Csesar, or not?
12:15 Ought we to geue/ or ought we not to geue? He vnderstode their simulacion/ and sayde vnto them: Why tempte ye me? Bringe me apeny/ that I maye se it. Ought we to geue, or ought we not to geue? But he vnderstode theyr symulacyon, and sayd vnto them: Why tempte ye me? Bringe me a peny, that I maye se it. Ought we to geue/ or ought we not to geue? He vnderstode their simulacion/ and sayde vnto them: Why tempte ye me? Bringe me apeny/ that I maye se it. Oght we to geue, or oght we not to geue? And he vnderstode their simulation, and sayd vnto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.
12:16 And they brought. And he sayde vnto them: Whose is this ymage and superscripcion? And they sayde vnto him Cesars. And they brought it. And he sayeth vnto them: Whose is thys ymage & superscripcyon? And they sayde vnto hym: Cesars. And they brought. And he sayde vnto them: Whose is this ymage and superscripcion? And they sayde vnto him Cesars. And they broght it, and he sayd vnto them. Whose is this image and superscription? And they sayd vnto him, Caesars.
12:17 And Iesus answered & sayde vnto them: Then geue to Cesar that which belongeth to Cesar: & to God/ that which perteyneth to God. And they meruelled at him. And Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them: Geue to Cesar the thinges that belonge to Cesar: and to God, the thynges whych perteyne to God. And they meruelled at hym. And Iesus answered & sayde vnto them: Then geue to Cesar that which belongeth to Cesar: & to God/ that which perteyneth to God. And they meruelled at him. Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, Then geue to Caesar that which belongeth to Caesar, and to God, that which perteyneth to God. And they merueyled at hym.
12:18 Then came the Saduces vnto him/ which saye/ ther is no resurreccion. And they axed him sayinge: There came also vnto hym the Saduces, whych saye that ther is no resurreccyon. And they asked hym sayinge: Then came the Saduces vnto him/ which saye/ ther is no resurreccion. And they axed him sayinge: Then come the Sadduces vnto him, (which say there is no resurrection) And they asked hym, saying,
12:19 Master/ Moses wroote vnto vs yf eny mans brother dye/ and leue his wyfe behynde him/ & leue no chyldren: that then his brother shuld take his wyfe/ and reyse vp seed vnto his brother. Master Moses wrote vnto vs, yf eny mans brother dye, and leaue hys wyfe behynde hym, and leaue no chyldren: that hys brother shuld take hys wyfe, and reyse vp seed vnto hys brother. Master/ Moses wroote vnto vs yf eny mans brother dye/ and leue his wyfe behynde him/ & leue no chyldren: that then his brother shuld take his wyfe/ and reyse vp seed vnto his brother. Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, yf any mans brother dye, and leaue his wyfe behynd him, and leaue no chyldren: that then his brother should take his wyfe, and rayse vp seed vnto his brother.
12:20 There were seuen brethren: & the fyrst toke a wyfe/ and when he dyed leeft no seed behynde him. There were seuen brethren, and the fyrst toke a wyfe: and when he dyed, left no seed behynde hym. There were seuen brethren: & the fyrst toke a wyfe/ and when he dyed leeft no seed behynde him. There were therfore seuen brethren, and the fyrst toke a wife, and when he dyed, left no seed behynd hym.
12:21 And the seconde toke hyr/ and dyed: nether leeft eny seed. And the thyrde lyke wyse. And the seconde toke hyr, and dyed: nether left he any seed. And the thyrde lykewyse. And the seconde toke hyr/ and dyed: nether leeft eny seed. And the thyrde lyke wyse. And the seconde toke her, and dyed, nether left any seed: and the thyrd lykewyse.
12:22 And seuen had her/ and leeft no seed behynde them. Last of all the wyfe dyed also. And seuen had her, and left no seed behynde them. Last of all the wyfe dyed also. 12:23 In the resurreccion then/ when they shall ryse agayne: whose wyfe shall she be of them? For seuen had her to wyfe. 12:24 Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Are ye not therfore deceaued and vnderstonde not the scriptures/ nether the power of God? And Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them: Do ye not therfore erre, because ye vnderstande not the scriptures, nether the power of God? Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Are ye not therfore deceaued and vnderstonde not the scriptures/ nether the power of God? 12:25 For when they shall ryse agayne from deeth/ they nether mary/ nor are maryed: but are as the angels which are in heauen. For when they shall ryse agayne from deeth, they nether mary, nor are maryed: but are as the angels, whych are in heauen. For when they shall ryse agayne from deeth/ they nether mary/ nor are maryed: but are as the angels which are in heauen. For when they shal ryse agayne from death, nether men mary, nor wiues are maried: but are as the Angels which are in heauen.
12:26 As touchynge the deed/ that they shall ryse agayne: haue ye not redde in the boke of Moses/ howe in the busshe God spake vnto him sayinge: I am the God of Abraham and God of Isaac/ and the God of Iacob? As touching the deed, that they ryse agayne: haue ye not redde in the boke of Moses, how in the bushe, God spake vnto hym, sayinge: I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? As touchynge the deed/ that they shall ryse agayne: haue ye not redde in the boke of Moses/ howe in the busshe God spake vnto him sayinge: I am the God of Abraham and God of Isaac/ and the God of Iacob? As touchyng the dead, that they shal ryse agayne: haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, how in the busshe God spake vnto hym, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob?
12:27 He is not the God of the deed/ but the God of the lyuynge. Ye are therfore greatly deceaued. He is no God of deed, but the God of lyuynge. Ye are therfore greatly deceaued. He is not the God of the deed/ but the God of the lyuynge. Ye are therfore greatly deceaued. He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the lyuyng. Ye are therefore greatly deceaued.
12:28 And ther came one of the Scribes that had hearde them disputynge to geder/ & perceaued that he had answered them wel/ and axed him: Which is the fyrste of all the cōmaundmentes? And whan ther came one of the Scrybes, and had hearde them disputynge to gether (and perceaued that he had answered them well) he asked hym: whych is the fyrst of all the commaundementes? And ther came one of the Scribes that had hearde them disputynge to geder/ & perceaued that he had answered them wel/ and axed him: Which is the fyrste of all the cōmaundmentes? And there came one of the Scribes that had heard them disputing together, and perceaued that he had answered them wel, and asked hym, Which is the fyrst of all the commandementes?
12:29 Iesus answered him: the fyrste of all the commaundementes is. Heare Israel: The Lorde God/ is one Lorde. Iesus answered him, the fyrste of all the commaundementes is: Heare O Israell: The Lorde oure God, is Lord onely: Iesus answered him: the fyrste of all the commaundementes is. Heare Israel: The Lorde God/ is one Lorde. Iesus answered hym, The fyrst of all the commandementes is. Heare Israel, The Lord our God, is the onely Lord.
12:30 And thou shalt loue the Lorde thy God with all thy hert/ and with all thy soule/ and with all thy mynde/ and with all thy strength. This is the fyrste cōmaundment. And thou shalt loue the Lorde thy God with all thy hert, & wyth all thy soule, and wyth all thy mynde, and with all thy strength. This is the fyrste commaundment. And thou shalt loue the Lorde thy God with all thy hert/ and with all thy soule/ and with all thy mynde/ and with all thy strength. This is the fyrste cōmaundment. Thou shalt therfore loue the Lord thy God with all thy hart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy mynde, and with al thy strength, ITiis is the fyrst commandement.
12:31 And the seconde is lyke vnto this: Thou shalt loue thy neghbour as thy selfe. Ther is none other commaundment greater then these. And the seconde is lyke vnto thys: Thou shalt loue thy neyghbour as thy selfe. Ther is none other commaundment greater then these. And the seconde is lyke vnto this: Thou shalt loue thy neghbour as thy selfe. Ther is none other commaundment greater then these. And the second is like vnto this, Thou shalt loue thy neighhour as thy selfe. There is none other commandement greater then these.
12:32 And the Scribe sayde vnto him: well master/ thou hast sayd the truthe/ that ther is one God and that ther is none but he. And the Scrybe sayde vnto him: well master, thou hast sayd the truthe, for ther is one God, & ther is none but he. And the Scribe sayd vnto him, Wei Maister, thou hast sayd the trueth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he.
12:33 And to loue him with all the herte/ & with all the mynde/ & with all the soule/ and with all the strength: and to loue a mans neghbour as him selfe/ is a greater thinge then all burntofferings & sacrifices. And to loue hym wyth all the herte, and wyth all the mynde, & wyth all the soule, & wyth all the strength: and to loue a mans neyghbour as hym selfe, is a greater thynge, then all burt offerynges and sacrifyces. And to loue him with all the herte/ & with all the mynde/ & with all the soule/ and with all the strength: and to loue a mans neghbour as him selfe/ is a greater thinge then all burntofferings & sacrifices. And to loue him with all the hart, and with all the mynde, and with all the soule, and with all the strength: and to loue his neyghbour as hym selfe, is more then all burnt offerynges and sacrifices.
12:34 And when Iesus sawe that he answered discretly/ he sayde vnto him: Thou arte not farre from the kyngdome of God. And no man after that/ durst axe him eny question. And when Iesus sawe that he answered discretly, he sayde vnto hym: Thou art not farre from the kyngdome of God. And no man after that, durst aske hym any questyon. And when Iesus sawe that he answered discretly/ he sayde vnto him: Thou arte not farre from the kyngdome of God. And no man after that/ durst axe him eny question. Then, when Iesus saw that he answered discretely, he sayd vnto him, Thou art not far from the kyngdome of God. And no man after that durst aske hym any question.
12:35 And Iesus answered and sayde/ teachynge in the temple: how saye the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid? And Iesus answered & sayde, teachinge in the temple: how saye the Scrybes that Chryst is the sonne of Dauid? And Iesus answered and sayde/ teachynge in the temple: how saye the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid? And Iesus answered and sayd teachyng in the temple, How say the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid?
12:36 for Dauid him selfe inspyred with the holy goost/ sayde: The Lorde sayde to my Lorde/ syt on my ryght honde/ tyll I make thyne enemyes thy fote stole. for Dauid him selfe inspired wt the holy goost, sayd: The Lorde sayde to my Lorde, syt on my ryght hande tyll I make thyne enemyes thy fote stole. for Dauid him selfe inspyred with the holy goost/ sayde: The Lorde sayde to my Lorde/ syt on my ryght honde/ tyll I make thyne enemyes thy fote stole. For Dauid hym selfe inspired with the holy Goet, sayd, The Lord sayd to my Lord, syt on my ryght hand, tyl I make thyne enemies thy fotestole.
12:37 Then Dauid him selfe calleth him Lorde: & by what meanes is he then his sonne? And moche people hearde him gladly. Dauid him selfe calleth him Lord: & how is he then hys sonne? And moche people hearde him gladly: Then Dauid him selfe calleth him Lorde: & by what meanes is he then his sonne? And moche people hearde him gladly. Then Dauid him selfe calleth him Lord, and by what meanes is he then his sonne? And much people heard him gladly.
12:38 And he sayde vnto them in his doctrine: be ware of the Scribes which loue to go in longe clothinge: and loue salutacions in the market places/ And he sayde vnto them in his doctrine: beware of the Scribes, which loue to go in longe clothynge: & loue salutacions in the market places, And he sayde vnto them in his doctrine: be ware of the Scribes which loue to go in longe clothinge: and loue salutacions in the market places/ And he sayd vnto them in his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which loue to go in long clothing, and loue salutations in the market places.
12:39 and the chefe seates in the synagoges/ and to syt in the vppermost roumes at feastes/ and the chefe seates in the congregacyons, and the vppermost roumes at feastes: and the chefe seates in the synagoges/ and to syt in the vppermost roumes at feastes/ And the chiefe seates in the Synagoges, and the fyrst rowmes at f eastes.
12:40 and deuoure wydowes houses/ & that vnder a coloure of longe prayinge. These shall receaue greater dampnacion. whych deuoure wydowes houses, and vnder a pretence, make longe prayers. These shall receaue greater dampnacyon. and deuoure wydowes houses/ & that vnder a coloure of longe prayinge. These shall receaue greater dampnacion. Which deuour wydowes houses, and that vnder a coulour of long praying. These shal receaue greater damnation.
12:41 And Iesus sat ouer agaynst the treasury/ and behelde how the people put money into the treasury. And many that were ryche/ cast in moch. And whan Iesus sat ouer agaynst the treasury, he behelde, how the people put money into the treasury. And many that were ryche, cast in moch. 12:43 And he called vnto him his disciples and sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you/ that this poore wydowe hath cast moare in/ then all they which haue caste into the treasury. And he called vnto him hys discyples & sayeth vnto them. Verely I saye vnto you, that thys poore wydowe hath cast moare in, then all they which haue cast into the treasury. And he called vnto him his disciples and sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you/ that this poore wydowe hath cast moare in/ then all they which haue caste into the treasury. And he called vnto hym his disciples, and sayd vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that this poore wydow hath cast more in then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.
12:44 For they all dyd cast in of their superfluyte: but she of her pouerte/ dyd cast in all that she had/ euen all her liuynge.
