Acts: Chapter 22b

22:1 YE men/ brethrē and fathers/ heare myne answere which I make vnto you. MEN, brethren and fathers, heare ye myne answere which I make now unto you. YE men, brethren & fathers, heare myne answere which I make vnto you. YE men, brethren and fathers, heare my defence which I now make vnto you.
22:2 When they hearde yt he spake in the Ebrue tonge to them/ they kept ye moore sylence. And he sayd: When they hearde that he spake in the Ebrue tonge to them, they kept the more silence. And he sayeth. Whē they hearde that he spake in the Ebrue tonge to them, they kept the moore silēce. And he sayde: (When they heard that he spake in the Hebrue tonge to them, they kept the more silence, and he sayd)
22:3 I am verely a mā which am a Iewe borne in Tharsus/ a cytie in Cycill: neuerthelesse yet brought vp in this cytie/ at the fete of Gamaliel/ and informed diligently in ye lawe of the fathers/ & was feruent mynded to God warde/ as ye all are this same daye/ ‘I am verely a man which am a Iewe borne in Tarsus, a cytie in Cycyll: neverthelesse yet brought vp in this cycle, at the fete of Gamaliel, and informed diligently in the lawe of the fathers, and was feruent mynded to God warde, as ye all are this same daye, and I am verely aman which am a Iewe borne in Tharsus, a cite in Cicill: neuerthelesse yet brought vp in this cite, at the fete of gamaliel and informed diligently in the lawe of the fathers, and was feruent mynded to Godwarde as ye all are this same daye, I am verely a man which am a Iewe, borne in Tarsus, a citie in Cilicia: neuerthelesse, yet broght vp in this citie, at the fete of Gamaliel, and instructed according to the perfect maner of the Lawe of the fathers, and was feruent mynded to Godwarde, as ye all are this same day.
22:4 & I persecuted this waye vnto the deeth byndynge & delyueryng into preson bothe men & wemen/ I persecuted this wave vnto the deeth byndynge and ddyueryng into preson both men and wemen, and I persecuted this waye vnto the deeth byndynge and delyueringe into presort bothe mē and wemen, And I persecuted this way vnto the death, byndyng and deliueryng into prison bothe men and women.
22:5 as ye chefe prest doth beare me wytnes/ & all ye elders: of whom also I receaued letters vnto ye brethren/ and went to Damasco to brynge thē which were there boūde vnto Ierusalem for to be punysshed. 22:6 And it fortuned/ as I made my iorney and was come nye vnto Damasco aboute none that sodenly ther shone from heauen a great lyght rounde aboute me/ And it fortuned (that as I made my iorney and was come nve vnto Damasco aboute none) sodenly ther shone from heauen a great lyght rounde aboute me, And it fortuned, as I made my iorney and was come nye vnto Damasco aboute none that sodenly ther shone from heauen a greate lyght rounde aboute me, And so it was, as I made my iorney and was come nye vnto Damascus about noone, that sodenly ther shone from heauen a great lyght rounde about me,
22:7 and I fell vnto the erth/ & heard a voyce sayīg vnto me. Saul Saul/ why persecutest thou me? and I fell vnto the erth, and heard a voice saying unto me: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? and I fell vnto the erth, and hearde a voyce sayinge vnto me Saul Saul, why persecutest thou me? So I fel vnto the earth and heard a voyce, saving vnto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
22:8 And I answered: what arte thou Lorde? And he sayde to me: I am Iesus of Nazareth whom thou persecutest. And I answered: what art thou Lorde? And he sayde vnto me: I am Iesus of Nazareth, whom thou ‘persecutest. And I answered: what arte thou Lorde? And he sayd to me: I am Iesus of nazareth whō thou persecutest. Then I answered, Who art thou Lord? And he sayd to me, I am Iesus of Nazaret, whome thou pereecutest.
22:9 And they that were wt me/ sawe verely a lyghte and were afrayde: but they hearde not ye voyce of him yt spake with me. And they that were wyth jme: sawe verely a lyghte and were afrayde: { but they hearde not the voyce of him that spake with me. And they that were with me, sawe verely a lyght & were a frayde: but they hearde not the voyce of him that spake with me. Moreouer they that were with me, sawe verely a light and were afrayde: hut they heard not the voyce of him that spake with me.
22:10 And I sayde: what shall I do Lorde? And the Lord sayd vnto me: Aryse & go in to Damasco and there it shalbe tolde the of all thinges which are apoynted for the to do. And I sayde: what shall I do Lorde? And the Lord sayd vnto me: Aryse and go into Damasco, and there it shalbe tolde the of all thinges, which are apoynted for the to do. And I sayde: what shall I do Lorde? And the Lorde sayde vnto me: Aryse and go into Damasco and there it shalbe tolde the of all thinges which are apoynted for the to do. And I sayd, What shal I do Lord? And the Lord sayd vnto me, Aryse, and go into Damascus: and there it shalhe tolde thee of all thinges, which are appointed for thee to do.
22:11 And when I sawe nothing for ye bryghtnes of yt lyght/ I was ledde by the hande of them that were with me/ and came into Damasco. And j when I sawe nothyng for the bryghtnes of that lyght, I was led by the liande of them that were wyth me, and came into Damasco. And whē I sawe nothinge for the brightnes of that lyght, I was ledde by the honde of them that were with me, and came into Damasco. So when I could not see for the bryghtnes of that lyght, I was led by the hande of them that were with me, and came into Damascus.
22:12 And one Ananias a perfect mā/ & as pertaynynge to the lawe hauynge good reporte of all the Iewes which there dwelt/ And one Ananias a perfect man, (and as pertaynynge to the lawe hauynge good reporte of all the Iewes whych there dwelt) And one Ananias a perfect man, & as pertaynynge to the lawe hauynge good reporte of all the Iewes which there dwelt, And one Ananias a godly man as pertayning to the Lawe, hauing good reporte of all the Iewes which dwelt there,
22:13 cam vnto me/ and stode and sayde vnto me: Brother Saul/ looke vp. And yt same houre I receaued my syght and sawe him. cam vnto me, and stode, and sayde vnto me: Brother Saul, receaue thy sight, And the same houre I receaued my syght, and sawe him. came vnto me, and stode and sayd vnto me: Brother Saul, loke vp. And that same houre I receaued my syght and sawe him. Came vnto me, and stode, and sayd vnto me, Brother Saul, receaue thy sight: and that same houre I loked vpon him.
22:14 And he sayd/ the God of oure fathers hath ordeyned ye before/ yt thou shuldest knowe his will/ & shuldest se that which is ryghtfull/ & shuldest heare the voyce of hys mouthe: And he sayd: the God of oure fathers hath ordeyned the before, that thou shuldest knowe his will, and shuldest heare the voyce of hys mouth: And he sayde, the God of oure fathers hath ordeyned the before, that thou shuldest knowe his will, & shuldest se that which is ryghtfull, & shuldest heare the voyce of his mouth: And he sayd, The God of our fathers hath ordeyned thee, that thou shuldest knowe his wil, and shuldest se that Iuste one, and shuldest heare the voyce of his mouth.
22:15 for thou shalt be hys wytnes vnto all men of those thyngſ/ which thou hast sene and hearde. for thou shalt he hys wytnes vnto all men of those thynges, which thou hast sene and heard. for thou shalt be his witnes vnto all men of tho thinges which thou hast sene and hearde. For thou shalt be hys wytnes vnto all men of those thinges, which thou hast sene and heard.
22:16 And now: why tariest thou? Aryse and be baptised/ and wesshe awaye thy synnes/ in callynge on the name of the Lorde. And now: why tariest thou? 22:17 And it fortuned/ when I was come agayne to Ierusalem & prayde in the tēple/ that I was in a traunce/ And it fortuned, that when I was come agayne to Ierusalem and prayde in the temple. 22:18 and sawe him sayīg vnto me. Make haste/ & get ye quyckly out of Ierusalem: for they wyll not receaue thy wytnes that thou bearest of me. and sawe him sayinge vnto me: Make haste, and get the quyckly out of Ierusalem: for they wyD not receaue thy wytnes that thou bearest of me. & sawe him sayinge vnto me. Make haste, & get the quickly out of Ierusalem: for they will not receaue thy witnes that thou bearest of me. And sawe him saying vnto me, Make haste, and get thee quyckly out of Ierusalem: for they wyl not receaue thy wytnes that thou bearest of me.
22:19 And I sayde: Lord they knowe that I presoned/ and bet in euery synagoge thē yt beleued on the. And I sayde: Lord, they knowe, that I presoned and bet in euery synagoge them that beleued on the. And I sayde: Lorde they knowe that I presoned, & bet in euery synagoge thē that beleued on the. Then I sayd, Lord they know that I prisoned, and bet in euery Synagoge, them that beleued on thee.
22:20 And when the bloud of thy wytnes Steuen was sheed/ I also stode by/ & consented vnto his deeth & kept the raymēt of thē that slewe him. And when the bloud of thy wytnes Steuen was shed. I also stode by, and consented vnto his death, and kept the rayment of them that slewe him. 22:21 And he sayd vnto me: departe/ for I will sende the afarre hence vnto the Gentyls. And he sayd vnto me departe, for I will sende the afarre hence vnto the Gentyls. 22:22 They gaue him audiēce vnto this worde/ and then lyfte vp their voyces & sayd: awaye with soche a felowe from the erth: it is pytie that he shuld lyue. -‘They gaue hym audience vnto thys worde, and then lyfte vp their voyces and sayd: awaye with soche a felowe from the earth: for it is no reason that he shuld lyue. They gaue him audience vnto this worde, and then lyfte vp their voyces and sayde: a waye with soche a felowe from the erth: it is pytie that he shuld lyue. And they gaue hym audience vnto this worde, but then they lift vp their voyces, and sayd, Away with suche a felowe from the earth, for it is not mete that he shulde lyue.
22:23 And as they cryed & cast of their clothes/ and thrue dust into the ayer/ And as they cryed, and cast of their clothes, and thrue dust into the ayer, And as they cryed & cast of their clothes, and thrue dust into the ayer, And as they cried and cast of their clothes, and threwe dust into the ayre,
22:24 the captayne bad him to be brought into the castle/ & cōmaunded him to be scourged/ & to be examined/ that he myght know wherfore they cryed on hym. the captayne commaunded hym to be brought into the castle, and bad that he shulde be scourged, and to be examined, that he myght know, wherfore they cryed so on hym. the captayne bad him to be brought into the castle, & cōmaunded him to be scourged, & to be examined, that he myght knowe wherfore they cryed on him. The Captaine bade him to be broght into the castle, and commanded him to be scourged, and examined, that he might know wherfore they cried so on hym.
22:25 And as they bounde hym with thonges/ Paul sayde vnto ye Centurion that stode by: Is it laufull for you to scourge a man that is a Romayn and vncōdempned? And whan they bounde hym with thonges, Paul sayde vnto the Centurion that stode by him: Is it laufull for you to scourge a man that is a Romayn and vncondemnedr And as they bounde him with thonges, Paul sayd vnto the Centuriō that stode by: Ys it laufull for you to scourge a man that is a Romain and vncondempned? And as they bounde hym with thonges, Paul sayd vnto the Centurion that stode by, Is it lauful for you to scourge a man that is a Romain, and not condemned?
22:26 When the Centurion hearde that/ he went/ and tolde the vpper Captayne saying: What intēdest thou to do? This mā is a Romayn. When the Centurion hearde that, he went and tolde the vpper Captayne saying: What intendest thou to do? For thys man is (o citezen) of Rome. When the Centurion hearde that, he went, & tolde the vpper Captayne sayinge: What intendest thou to do? This man is a Romayn. When the Centurion heard that, he went and tolde the vpper Captaine, saying, Take heed what thou doest, for this man is a Romain.
22:27 Then the vpper Captayne cam/ & sayd to him: tell me/ art thou a Romayne? He sayd: Ye. Then the vpper Captayne cam, and sayd vnto him: tell me, art thou a Romayne? He sayd: Yee, Then the vpper Captayne came, & sayde to him: tell me, art thou a Romayne? He sayde: Yee. Then the vpper Captaine came, and sayd to him, Tel me, art thou a Romaine? And he sayd, Yea.
22:28 And the captayne answered: with a great some obtayned I this fredō: And Paul sayde: I was fre borne. And the captayne answered, with a great some obtayned I this fredom: And Paul sayde: I was fre borne. And the captayne answered: with a greate some obtayned I this fredome. And Paul sayde: I was fre borne. And the Captaine answered, With a great summe obtayned I this fredome. But Paul sayd, I was free borne.
22:29 Then strayght waye departed from him/ they which shulde haue examined hym. And the hye Captayne also was afrayde/ after he knewe that he was a Romayne: because he had bounde him. Then strayght waye departed from him they which shulde haue examined hym. And the hye Captayne also was afrayde, after he knewe that he was a Romayne and because he had bounde him. Then strayght waye departed from him, they which shulde haue examined him. And the hye captayne also was a frayde, after he knewe that he was a Romayne: because he had bounde him. 22:30 On the morowe because he wolde haue knowen the certayntie wherfore he was accused of the Iewes/ he lowsed him from hys bondes/ and commaunded the hye Prestes & all the counsell to come together/ & brought Paul and set him before them. On the morow (because he wolde haue knowen the certayntie wherfore he was accused of the Iewes) he losed him from hys bondes, and commaunded the hye Prestes and all the counsell to come together and brought Paul forth, and set him before them. On the morowe because he wolde haue knowen the certayntie wherfore he was accused of the Iewes, he lowsed him from his bondes, & commaunded the hye Prestes & all the counsell to come together, and brought Paul and set him before them. On the next day, because he wolde haue knowen the certaintie wherfore he was accused of the Iewes he lowsed him from his bondes, and commanded the hye Priestes and all theyr Counsel to come together: and broght Paul and set him before them.
