LAbour for loue and couet spretuall gyftes: and most chefly forto prophesye. FOLLOWE earnestly loue, and couet spiritual giftes: and most chiefly for to prophetie.
14:2 For he that speaketh with tonges/ speaketh not vnto men/ but vnto God. For no man heareth him. Howbeit in the sprete he speaketh mysteries. For he that speaketh wyth the tonge, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God. For no man heareth him. Howbeit in the sprete he speaketh mysteries. For he that speaketh with tonges, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God. For no man heareth him. Howbeit in the sprete he speaketh mysteries. For he that speaketh a strange tonge, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God: for no man heareth him: howbeit in the sprite he speaketh secret things.
14:3 But he that prophesieth/ speaketh vnto men/ to edifyinge/ to exhortacion and to comforte. But he that prophesieth, speaketh vnto men for their edifyinge, for their exhortacion and for their comforte. But he that prophesieth, speaketh vnto men, to edifyinge, to exhortacion and to comforte. But he that prophecieth speaketh vnto men to edifiing, to exhortation, and to confort.
14:4 He that speaketh with tonges/ proffiteth him selfe: he that prophesyeth/ edifieth the congregacion. He that speaketh wyth the tonge, proffiteth him selfe: he that prophesieth, edifieth the congregacion He that speaketh with tonges, proffiteth him selfe: he that prophesyeth, edifieth the congregacion. He that speaketh strange langage, proffiteth him selfe: but he that prophecieth, edifieth the Churche.
14:5 I wolde that ye all spake with tonges: but rather that ye prophesyed. For greater is he that prophesyeth/ then he that speaketh with tonges/ except he expounde it also: that the congregacion maye haue edifyinge. I wolde that ye aD spake with tonges: but rather that ye prophesied. For greter is he that prophesyeth, then he that speaketh with tonges, except he expounde it: that the congregacion maye haue edifying. I wolde that ye all spake with tonges: but rather that ye prophesyed. For greater is he that prophesyeth, then he that speaketh with tonges, except he expounde it also: that the congregacion maye haue edifyinge. I wolde that ye all spake strange languages: but rather that ye prophecied: for greater is he that prophecieth, then he that speaketh diuers tonnes: except he expound it also, that the Churche may be edified.
14:6 Now brethren/ yf I come vnto you speakinge with tonges: what shall I profit you/ excepte I speake vnto you/ other by reuelacion or knowledge/ or prophesyinge/ or doctrine. Now brethren, yf I come vnto you speakvnge wyth tonges: what shall I profyt yoo. excepte I speake to you, other by reaelacion or by knowledge, or by prophesy inge, or by doctrine? Now brethren, yf I come vnto you speakinge with tonges: what shall I profit you, excepte I speake vnto you, other by reuelacion or knowledge, or prophesyinge, or doctrine. And now brethren, yf I come vnto you speaking diuers tonges: what shal I profit you, except I speake to you, other by reuelacion, or bv knowledge, or by propheciing, or by doctrine?
14:7 Moreouer when thinges with out lyfe: geue sounde: whether it be a pype or an harpe: except they make a distinccion in the soundes: how shall it be knowen what is pyped or harped? Moroeuer, when thinges without lyfe geue sounde (whether it be a pype or an harpe) except they make a distinccion is the soundes, how shall it be knowen what is pyped or harped? Moreouer when thinges with out lyfe: geue sounde: whether it be a pype or an harpe: except they make a distinccion in the soundes: how shall it be knowen what is pyped or harped? Moreouer things without life which geue a sound, whether it be a pipe or an harpe, except they make a distinction in the sounds, how shal it be knowen what is pyped or harped?
14:8 And also yf the trompe geue an vncertayne voyce/ who shall prepare him selfe to fyght? For yf the trompe geue an vncertayne voyce, who shall prepare hym selfe to the warre? And also yf the trompe geue an vncertayne voyce, who shall prepare him selfe to fyght? And also if the trompet geue an vncertayne voyce, who shal prepare him selfe to fyght?
14:9 Euen so lykewyse when ye speake with tonges/ excepte ye speake wordes that haue significacion/ how shall it be vnderstonde what is spoken? For ye shall but speake in the ayer. Euen so lyke wyse when ye speake wyth tonges. excepte ye speake wordes that haue signification, how shall it be vnderstande what is spoken? For ye shall but speake in the ayer. Euen so lykewyse when ye speake with tonges, excepte ye speake wordes that haue significacion, how shall it be vnderstonde what is spoken? For ye shall but speake in the ayer. Euen so lykewyse, when ye speake strange langage, except ye speake wordes that haue signification, how shal it be vnderstand what is spoken? for ye shal but speake in the ayre.
14:10 Many kyndes of voyces are in the worlde/ and none of them are with out signification. Many kyndes of voyces are in the world, and none of them are without significacion. Many kyndes of voyces are in the worlde, and none of them are with out signification. Ther are so many kyndes of voyces as it commeth to passe in the worlde, and none of them are so, that they can not be descerned.
14:11 Yf I knowe not what the voyce meaneth/ I shalbe vnto him that speaketh/ an alient/ & he that speaketh shalbe an alient vnto me. If I knowe not what the voyce meaneth, I shalbe vnto him that speaketh, an alient: and he that speaketh, shalbe an alient vnto me. Yf I knowe not what the voyce meaneth, I shalbe vnto him that speaketh, an alient, & he that speaketh shalbe an alient vnto me. Except I knowe therfore what the voyce meaneth, I shalbe vnto hym that speaketh, as of an other langage, and he that speaketh shalbe as of another langage vnto me.
14:12 Euen so ye (for as moche as ye couet spretuall gyftes) seke that ye maye haue plentye vnto the edifyinge of the congregacion. Euen so ye (for as moch as ye couet spretuall gyftes) seke, that ye maye excell, vnto the edifyinge of the congregacion. Euen so ye (for as moche as ye couet spretuall gyftes) seke that ye maye haue plentye vnto the edifyinge of the congregacion. Euen so, for as muche as ye couet spiritual gyftes, seke ye that ye may excel vnto the edifiing of the Churche.
14:13 Wherfore let him that speaketh with tonges praye that he maye interpret also. Wherfore, let him that speaketh with tonge, praye, that he maye interpret also. Wherfore let him that speaketh with tonges praye that he maye interpret also. Wherfore, let him that speaketh the tonges, praye, that he may interpret also:
14:14 Yf I praye with tonges my sprete prayeth: but my mynde is with out frute. For If I praye with tonge, my sprete prayeth, but my under standing doth no good. Yf I praye with tonges my sprete prayeth: but my mynde is with out frute. For if I pray in a strange tonge, my spirite prayeth: but my vnderstanding is with out finite.
14:15 What is it then? I will praye with the sprete/ & will praye with the mynde also. I will singe with the sprete/ and will singe with the mynde also. What is it then? I wyll praye with the sprete, and wyll praye with the vnderstonding. I will synge with the sprete, and wyll singe with the vnderstonding. What is it then? I will praye with the sprete, & will praye with the mynde also. I will singe with the sprete, and will singe with the mynde also. What is it then? I wil pray with the spirite, and wil pray with the vnderstanding also I wil syng with the sprite, and wil syng with the vnderstanding also.
14:16 For els when thou blessest with the sprete/ how shall he that occupieth the roume of the vnlearned/ saye amen at thy geuinge of thankes/ seynge he vnderstondeth not what thou sayest. For ells, when thou blessest with the sprete, how shall he that occupieth the rowme of the vnlearned, stye Amen, at thy geuinge of thankes, seynge he vnderstandeth not, what thou sayest? For els when thou blessest with the sprete, how shall he that occupieth the roume of the vnlearned, saye amen at thy geuinge of thankes, seynge he vnderstondeth not what thou sayest. For els, when thou blessest wyth the sprite, how 8hal he that occupieth the rowme of the vnlearned, say Amen, at thy geuing of thankes? seyng he vnderstandeth not what thou sayest.
14:17 Thou verely geuest thankes well/ but the other is not edified. Thou verely geuest thankes well, but the other is not edified. Thou verely geuest thankes well, but the other is not edified. For thou verely geuest thankes wel: but the other is not edified.
14:18 I thanke my God/ I speake with tonges moare then ye all. I thank my God that I speak with tongues more then ye all. I thanke my God, I speake with tonges moare then ye all. I thanke my God, I speake langages more then ye all.
14:19 Yet had I leuer in the congregacion/ to speake fiue wordes with my mynde to the informacion of other rather then ten thousande wordes with the tonges. Yet had I leuer in the congregacion, to speake fyue wordes with my vnderstondyng to the informacion of other rather then ten thousand wordes with the tonge. Yet had I leuer in the congregacion, to speake fiue wordes with my mynde to the informacion of other rather then ten thousande wordes with the tonges. Yet had I leuer in the Churche, to speke fiue wordes with my vnderstanding to the teaching of other, rather then ten thousand wordes in strange langage.
14:20 Brethren/ be not chyldren in witte. How be it as concernynge maliciousnes/ be chyldren: but in witte be perfet. Brethren, be not ye chyldren in wyttr Howbeit, as concernyng maliciousnes, be children : but in witte be perfect, Brethren, be not chyldren in witte. How be it as concernynge maliciousnes, be chyldren: but in witte be perfet. Brethren, be not chyldren in vnderstanding: but, as concerning maliciousnes, be chyldren: but in vnderstanding be of a ripe age.
14:21 In the lawe it is written with other tonges/ and with other lyppes will I speake vnto this people/ and yet for all that/ will they not heare me/ sayth the Lorde. I» the lawe it is written with sondrye tonge. and with sondrye lippes wyll I speake vnto this people, and yet for all that, iH they not heare me, saith the Lorde In the lawe it is written with other tonges, and with other lyppes will I speake vnto this people, and yet for all that, will they not heare me, sayth the Lorde. In the Lawe it is written, By sundry tonges, and sundry lyppes wyl I speake vnto this people: and so shal they not heare me, sayeth the Lord.
14:22 Wherfore/ tonges are for a signe/ not to them that beleue: but to them that beleue not. Contrary wyse/ prophesyinge serueth not for them that beleue not: but for them which beleue. Wherfore tonges are for a sygne, not to them that beleue: but to them that beleue not. Contrary wyse, prophesyinge serueth not for them that beleue not: but for them whych beleue. Wherfore, tonges are for a signe, not to them that beleue: but to them that beleue not. Contrary wyse, prophesyinge serueth not for them that beleue not: but for them which beleue. Wherfore, tonges are for a sygne, not to them that beleue: but to them that beleue not: contrariwyse, propheciing serueth not for them that beleue not, but for them which beleue.
14:23 Yf therfore when all the congregacion is come to gedder/ and all speake with tonges/ ther come in they that are vnlearned/ or they which beleue not: will they not saye that ye are out of youre wittes? If therfore, when all the congregacyoo is come together, and all speake with tonges, ther come in they that are vnlearned, or they which beleue not: will they not save, that ye are out of youre wites? Yf therfore when all the congregacion is come to gedder, and all speake with tonges, ther come in they that are vnlearned, or they which beleue not: will they not saye that ye are out of youre wittes? If therfore, when all the Churche is come togither, and all speake in strange tonges, there come in they that are vnlearned or they which beleue not, wyl they not say that ye are out of your wyttes?
14:24 But and yf all prophesy/ and ther come in one that beleueth not/ or one vnlearned/ he is rebuked of all men/ and is iudged of euery man: But and yf all prophesy, and ther come in one that beleueth not, or one vnlearned, he is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of euery man, But and yf all prophesy, and ther come in one that beleueth not, or one vnlearned, he is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of euery man: But if all prophecie, and there come in one that beleueth not, or one vnlearned, he is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of euery man:
14:25 and so are the secretes of his hert opened/ and so falleth he doune on his face/ and worshippeth God/ and sayth that God is with you in dede. and so are the secretes of hys hert opened, and so falleth he downe on hys face, and worshippeth God, and sayth, that God is in you of a truth. and so are the secretes of his hert opened, and so falleth he doune on his face, and worshippeth God, and sayth that God is with you in dede. And so are the secretes of his heart opened, and so falleth he downe on his face, and worshippeth God, and sayeth, that God is in you in dede.
14:26 How is it then brethren? When ye come to geder/ euery man hath his songe/ hath his doctrine/ hath his tonge/ hath his reuelacion/ hath his interpretacion. Let all thinges be done vnto edifyinge. How is it then brethren? As oft > ye come together, euerv one of you hath a songe, hath a doctrine, hath a tonge, hath a reuelacion, hath an interpretation. Let all tlunges be done vnto edifyinge: How is it then brethren? When ye come to geder, euery man hath his songe, hath his doctrine, hath his tonge, hath his reuelacion, hath his interpretacion. Let all thinges be done vnto edifyinge. What is to be done then brethren? when ye come togither, according as euery one of you hath ether song, or doctrine, or tonge, or reuelation, or interpretation: let all thinges be done vnto edifiing.
14:27 If eny man speake with tonges/ let it be two atonce or at the most thre attonce and that by course: and let a nother interprete it. If eny man speake wyth tonge, let it be by two or at the most by thre, and that by course, and lett another interprete it. If eny man speake with tonges, let it be two atonce or at the most thre attonce and that by course: and let a nother interprete it. If any man speake the tonges, let it be by two or at the most by thre, and that by course, and let one interpret.
14:28 But yf ther be no interpreter/ let him kepe silence in the congregacion/ and let him speake to him selfe and to God. But yf ther be no interpreter, let him kepe sylence in the congregation, and let him speake to him selfe and to God. But yf ther be no interpreter, let him kepe silence in the congregacion, and let him speake to him selfe and to God. But yf ther be no interpreter, let him kepe silence in the Churche which speaketh langages, and let him speake to him selfe, and to God.
14:29 Let the Prophetes speake two atonce/ or thre atonce/ & let other iudge. Let the prophetes speake two, or thre, and let the other iudge. Let the Prophetes speake two atonce, or thre atonce, & let other iudge. Let the Prophetes speake two, or thre, and let the other iudge.
14:30 If eny reuelacion be made to a nother that sitteth by/ let the fyrst holde his peace. If eny reuelacion bemade to another that sytteth by, let the fyrst holde his peace. If eny reuelacion be made to a nother that sitteth by, let the fyrst holde his peace. If any thing be reueiled to another that sytteth by, let the fyrst holde his peace.
14:31 For ye maye all prophesy one by one/ that all maye learne/ and all maye have comforte. For ye maye all prophesy one by one, that all maye learne, and that all maye haue comforte. For ye maye all prophesy one by one, that all maye learne, and all maye have comforte. For ye may all prophecie one by one, that all may learne, and all may haue comfort.
14:32 For the spretes of the Prophetes are in the power of the Prophetes. And the spretes of the prophetes are in the power of the Prophetes. For the spretes of the Prophetes are in the power of the Prophetes. And the sprites of the Prophetes, are in the power of the Prophetes.
14:33 For God is not causer of stryfe: but of peace/ as he is in all other congregacions of the saynctes. For God is not causer of stryfe: but of peace, as (/ teach) in all congregations of the saynctes. For God is not causer of stryfe: but of peace, as he is in all other congregacions of the saynctes. For God is not the autor of confusion, but of peace, as in all the Churches of Sainctes.
14:34 Let youre wyues kepe silence in the congregacions. For it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but let thē be vnder obedience/ as sayth the lawe. Let youre wemen kepe sylence in the congregations. For it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but to be vnder obedience, as sayth the lawe. Let youre wyues kepe silence in the congregacions. 14:35 If they will learne eny thinge/ let them axe their husbandes at home. For it is a shame for wemen to speake in the cōgregacion. If they wyll learne eny thinge, let them aske their husbandes at home. For it is a shame for wemen, to speake in the congregacion. If they will learne eny thinge, let them axe their husbandes at home. For it is a shame for wemen to speake in the cōgregacion. If they wyl learne any thing, let them aske their housbandes at home: for it is a shame for women to speake in the congregation.
14:36 Spronge the worde of God from you? Ether came it vnto you only? Spronge the worde of God from you? Ether came it vnto you onely? Spronge the worde of God from you? Ether came it vnto you only? Spronge the worde of God from you? ether came it vnto vou onely?
