12:1 IN that tyme Herode the kynge layed hondes on certayne of the congregaciō/ to vexe them. IN that tyme Herode the kynge stretched forthe his handes to vexe certayne of the congregacion. IN that tyme Herode the kynge stretched forth his handes to vexe certayne of the congregacion. AT the same tyme layed kynge Herode handes vpon certayne of the congregacion, to vexe them.
12:2 He kylled Iames the brother off Ihon with a swerde: And he kylled Iames the brother of Iohn with the swerde: And he kylled Iames the brother of Iohn with the swerde: As for Iames the brother of Ihon, him he slewe with the swerde.
12:3 and be cause he sawe that it pleased the iewes/ he proceded forther/ to take Peter also. Thē wer the dayes of vnlevēded breed/ and because he sawe that it pleased ye Iewes/ he proceded forther/ & toke Peter also. Then were the dayes of swete breed. and because he sawe that it pleased the Iewes/ he proceded forther/ and toke Peter also. Then were the dayes of swete breed. And whan he sawe that it pleased the Iewes, he proceaded farther to take Peter also. But it was Easter.
12:4 ād when he had caught hym/ he put him in preson/ and delyvered hym to iiij. quaternions off soudiers to be kepte/ entendynge after ester to brynge hym forth to the people. Now whan he had taken him, he put him in preson, and delyuered him vnto foure quaternions of soudyers, to kepe him: and thought after Easter to bringe him forth to the people.
12:5 Thē was Peter kepte in preson. But prayer was made with out ceasynge off the congregacion vnto god for hym. Then was Peter kepte in preson. But prayer was made with out ceasynge of the congregacion vnto God for him. Then was Peter kepte in preson. But prayer was made with out ceasynge of the congregacion vnto God/ for him. And Peter was kepte in the preson But prayer was made without ceassinge of the congregacion, vnto God for him.
12:6 When herod wolde have brought hym oute vnto the people/ the same nyght slepte Peter bitwene ij. soudiers/ bounde with two chaynes/ And the kepers before the dore kepte the preson. And when Herode wolde have brought him oute vnto the people/ the same nyght slepte Peter bitwene two soudiers/ bounde with two chaynes/ and the kepers before the dore kepte the preson. And when Herode wolde haue brought him oute vnto the people/ the same nyght slepte Peter bitwene two soudiers/ bounde with two chaynes/ and the kepers before the dore kepte the preson. And whan Herode wolde haue broughte him out vnto the people, in the same nighte slepte Peter betwene two soudiers, bounde with two cheynes. And the kepers before the dore kepte the preson.
12:7 And beholde the angell of the lorde was there present/ and a light shyned in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the syde/ ād steryd hym vppe sayinge: aryse vppe quycly. And the cheynes fell of from his hondes. And beholde the angell of ye Lorde was there present/ & a lyght shyned in the lodge. And smote Peter on the syde/ & steryd him vp sayinge: aryse vp quyckly. And his cheynes fell of frō his hondes. And beholde the angel of the Lorde was there present/ and a lyght shyned in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the syde/ & steryd him vp sayinge: aryse vp quickly. And his cheynes fell of from his hondes. And beholde, the angell of the LORDE was there presente, and a lighte shyned in the habitacion, and he smote Peter on the syde, and waked him vp, and sayde: Aryse vp quyckly. And the cheynes fell of from his hondes.
12:8 and the angell sayd vnto him: gyrde thy silfe and bynde on thy sandalles/ And so he dyd. And he sayde vnto hym: cast on thy mantle aboute the/ and folowe me. And the angell sayd vnto him: gyrde thy selfe & bynde on thy sandales. And so he dyd. And he sayde vnto him: cast thy mantle aboute the/ & folowe me. And the Angel sayd vnto him: gyrde thy selfe and bynde on thy sandales. And so he dyd. And he sayde vnto him: cast thy mantle aboute the/ and folowe me. And the angell sayde vnto him: Gyrde the, and put on thy shues. And he dyd so. And he sayde vnto him: Cast thy mantle aboute the, and folowe me.
12:9 And he cam oute and folowed him/ and wist not/ that it was truth which was done by the angell/ butt thought he had sene a vision. And he came oute & folowed him/ & wist not/ that it was truthe which was done by the angell/ but thought he had sene a vision. 12:10 When they were past the fyrst and the seconde watche/ they cam vnto the yeron gate/ thatt ledeth vnto the cite/ which opened to them by his awne accorde. And they went oute and passed thorowe won stret/ and by and by the angell departed from hym. When they were past ye fyrst & ye seconde watche/ they came vnto ye yron gate/ yt ledeth vnto the cyte/ which opened to them by his awne accorde. And they went out and passed thorowe one strete/ & by & by the angell departed frō him. When they were past the fyrst and the seconde watche/ they came vnto the yron gate/ that ledeth vnto the cite/ which opened to them by his awne accorde. And they went out and passed thorowe one strete/ and by and by the angel departed from him. Neuertheles they wente thorow the first and seconde watch, and came to the yron gate, that ledeth vnto the cite, which opened to thē by his awne acorde. And they wente out, and passed thorow one strete, and immediatly the angell departed from him.
12:11 And whē Peter was come to hym silfe/ he sayde: nowe I knowe off a surety/ that the lorde hath sent his angell/ and hath delyvered me frō the honde off Herode/ and from all the waytynge fore of the people of the iewes. And when Peter was come to him selfe/ he sayde: now I knowe of a surety/ that the Lorde hath sent his angell/ & hath delyvered me out of the honde of Herode/ and from all the waytynge for of the people of ye Iewes. And when Peter was come to him selfe/ he sayde: now I knowe of a surety/ that the Lorde hath sent his angel/ & hath deliuered me out of the honde of Herode/ and from all the waytyngfor of the people of the Iewes. And whan Peter was come to himself, he sayde: Now I knowe of a trueth, that ye LORDE hath sent his angell, and delyuered me out of the honde of Herode, and from all the waytinge for of the people of the Iewes.
12:12 And as he cōsydred the thynge/ he cam to the housse of Mary the mother of one Ihon/ which was called marke also/ where many were gaddered to gedder in prayer. And as he consydred the thinge/ he cam to ye housse of Mary the mother of one Iohn/ which was called Marke also/ where many were gaddered to gedder in prayer. And as he consydred the thinge/ he came to the housse of Mary the mother of one Iohn/ which was called Marke also/ where many were gaddered to geder in prayer. And as he considered the thinge, he came to the house of Mary the mother of one Ihon, (which after his syrname was called Marke) where many were gathered together, and prayed.
12:13 As Peter knocked at the entry dore/ a damsell cam forth to herkē/ named Rhoda. As Peter knocked at the entry dore/ a damsell cam forth to herken/ named Rhoda. 12:14 And when she knewe Peters voyce/ she opened nott the entrey for gladnes/ but ran in and told howe Peter stode before the entrey. 12:15 And they sayd vnto her: thou arte mad. And she bare them doune that hit was even so. Then sayde they: it is hys angell. And they sayde vnto her: thou arte mad. And she bare them doune yt it was even so. Then sayde they: it is his angell. And they sayde vnto her: thou arte mad. And she bare them doune that it was euen so. Then sayde they: it is his angel. But they sayde vnto her: Thou art mad. Neuertheles she abode by it, that is was so. They sayde: it is his angell.
12:16 Peter contynued knockynge. When they had openned the dore/ and sawe him/ they were astonyd. Peter cōtynued knockinge. When they had opened the dore/ & sawe him/ they were astonyed. 12:17 He bekened vnto them with his honde to holde their peace/ and tolde them by what meanes the lorde had brought hym oute of preson. And sayde: goo shewe thys vnto Iames and to the brethern. And he departed and went into a nother place. And he beckened vnto them with ye honde to holde their peace/ & tolde them by what meanes ye Lorde had brought him oute of the preson. And sayde: goo shew these thinges vnto Iames and to the brethren. And he departed and went into a nother place. And he beckened vnto them with the honde/ to holde their peace/ and tolde them by what meanes the Lorde had brought him oute of the preson. And he sayde: go shew these thinges vnto Iames and to the brethren. And he departed and went into a nother place. But he beckened vnto them with the hande, to holde their peace, & tolde them, how the LORDE had broughte him out of the preson. And he sayde: Shewe this vnto Iames, and to the brethren. And he departed, and wēte in to another place.
12:18 As sone as ytt was daye there was no lytell a doo amonge the soudiers/ what was becum off Peter. Assone as it was daye ther was no lyttell a doo amōge the soudyers/ what was becum of Peter. Assone as it was daye ther was no lyttell a do amonge the soudiers/ what was becum of Peter. Whan it was daye, there was not a litle a doo amōge the soudyers, what was become of Peter.
12:19 When Herode had called for hym/ and founde him not/ he examyned the kepers/ and cōmaunded to departe. And he descended from Iewry to Cesarea/ ād there abode. 12:20 Herode was displeased with them off Tyre and Sydon. And they cam all at once/ and made intercessiō vnto blastus the kyngſ chamberlein/ ād desired peace/ be cause their countrey was norysshed be the kyngſ londe. Herode was displeased with them of Tyre and Sydon. And they came all at once/ and made intercession vnto Blastus the kynges chamberlen/ and desyred peace/ because their countrey was norysshed by the kynges londe. Herode was displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon. Neuertheles they came vnto him with one accorde, and made intercession to Blastus the kynges chamberlayne, and desyred peace, because their countre was norished by the kynges londe.
12:21 Apon a daye apoynted/ the kynge arayed hym in royall apparell/ and set hym in his seate/ and made an oracion vnto them. And vpon a daye appoynted/ Herode arayed him in royall apparell/ and set him in his seate/ & made an oraycon vnto them. 12:22 And the people gave a shute/ sayinge: It is the voyce of a god and not of a man. And the people gave a shoute/ sayinge: it is ye voyce of a God and not of a man. And the people gaue a shoute/ sayinge: it is the voyce of a God and not of a man. As for the people, they cried therto: This is a voyce of God, and not of a man.
12:23 And immediatly the angell of the lorde smote hī/ be cause he gave not God the honoure/ ād he was eatyn of wormes/ and gave vppe the goost. And immediatly the angell of ye Lorde smote him/ because he gave not God the honoure/ & he was eatyn of wormes/ and gave vp the goost. And immediatly the angel of the Lorde smote him/ because he gaue not God the honoure/ and he was eaten of wormes/ and gaue vp the goost. Immediatly the angell of the LORDE smote him, because he gaue not God the honoure: And he was eaten vp of wormes, and gaue vp the goost.
12:24 The worde off God grewe and multiplied. And ye worde of God grewe & multiplied. And the worde of God grewe and multiplied. But the worde of God grewe, and multiplyed.
12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned to Ierusalem/ and fulfilled their office/ and toke with thē Ihon/ which was also called Marcus. And Barnabas and Paul returned to Ierusalem/ when they had fulfilled their office/ & toke with them Iohn/ which was also called Marcus. And Barnabas and Paul returned to Ierusalem/ when they had fulfilled their office/ and toke with them Iohn/ which was also called Marcus. As for Barnabas and Saul, they came agayne to Ierusalem, and delyuered the handreachinge, and toke with them Ihon, whose syrname was Marke.
